Heya, my new laptop my mother gave me has suddenly decided to not charge when it's plugged in.

It says "plugged in, not charging" and will only charge when it hits 5%. I'm getting very sick of hearing the beep to tell me my battery is low. Also, if I unplug the charger and plug it back into the laptop, it will start to charge again, but only up to 10%.

I have tried changing my power settings to a lower setting, but it didn't work on Power Saver, Balanced or High Performance.

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite M100, with Vista Home Premium.

As I type, the beeping continues and so does the no charging. It starts to charge when it hits 5% or when I plug the charger out and back in. I currently have it on Balanced.

Could someone please help me? I'm going to turn it off soon and test to see if it charges fully when it's off.

It's currently charging fully now, it's at 86% without unplugging it or anything.

Well, I'm not a professional with laptops and i never used since my school doesn't need a laptop. I will tell you a few steps to do if it was the problem with a mobile.

1- Change the Laptop battery
2- Change the charger
3- Re-install the charger device if it needs to.

But you better contact the support for your laptop.

it will sometimes stop charging on the dining table now, it worked perfect on the table...

I thought it was the fan overheating, but probably not.

Now the battery screen on the bottom right that tells you how much battery is left is now just white, no info.

Better to just contact Toshiba support and send it to repairs.

Morlan, when your charger stops charging, is the charger very warm to hot if you touch it?

Remove your battery then plug in the charger, make sure the charger is on and everything then boot up. Should fix it :D

It's always hot, even when the laptop is off and not connected to the laptop.

I now have to wiggle the cord around for it to even connect properly and say that it's even connected to the charger.

When I unplug the charger, it takes a while for the laptop to figure out it's not connected anymore.

I think that the charger is getting so much power, the laptop tells it to GTFO.
