Source: http://jasonkoblovsky.blogspot.com/2011/01/activision-threatens-to-pull-psn.html

I (like the majority of Call of Duty Black Op's PS3 gamers) have been experiencing a huge number of connection problems for the past 3 month of release of this game.  I've been in dialog with Activision with respect to the problems associated with this game, and following the call of duty forums (PS3 forums are filled to the max daily on complaints with connection problems with the multi-player of this game).  I've posed some questions with respect to what Activision and Treyarch are going to do to keep the loyalty of the PS3 gamers to the Call of Duty titles due to the consistent problems PS3 users have been having and reporting to Treyarch since release. Activision offered the following and startling response:

Quote
Well I have nothing else to offer and I too follow forums and have many friends who play and enjoy the game for all of its features. As an avid gamer, I would also disagree with any legalities involving a single aspect of a game as online experience may change at any time. The publishers have the right to shut down the servers for their game at any time as well which based on the number of reported posts from users may be a viable solution over the free PSN.

        In any event, if you would like to send your game disc into us, we can either;

        a) Exchange for a sealed (unopened) copy of the game that you can take back to the retailer
        b) Swap for another platform
        c) Exchange for another Activision title of equal or lesser value.

These are the options that we are able to offer to you as a one time courtesy.

Let us know how you would like to proceed.

My Response:

So what essentially your telling me here, is that you've released a product that is known to have some major connection issues, and a threat here to the gaming community to keep their mouth shut, or the publisher might exercise it's rights to pull support for PSN?

I'm not going to accept or decline your offer at this time, however do have the legal right to accept the offer should the publisher pull support for PSN, or the next patch 1.06 forthcoming from the developer does not fix the connection issues with the free multilayer advertised with the shipped game, ON ALL PLATFORMS!

Considering this stunning threat from you on the PSN networks, if I chose to accept your offer it will be with option 1. I will never purchase an activision game again ever on any platform. I strongly disagree with punishing the users for mistakes made during the development process, and know several consumer advocates here in Canada that would be very interested in what you wrote here.

All gamers want is what they purchased here with the game, and able to enjoy it. So far I've seen nothing in respecting the PS3 gaming community on any front from activision, nor by treyarch on this. If you guys had issues with respect to PSN than it should have been a strictly XBOX PC release. I could seriously see some very strong legal challenges coming your way from the gamer community if PSN support is yanked after release. You can count on that.[/font]

ok i mad

I don't even know why I bought the game in the first place, I was already against the 60$ + 15$ per DLC price, and I know I won't buy the next game this year, the only thing i barely play anymore is zombies with my bro. Sorta pisses me off that instead of trying to do some update on their hardware or whatever they just give up and encourage us to swap the game for another one. And really, it's not like the other games are any worse, they're all going to charge you a ridiculous amount for either the controllers, or stupid DLC, or both.

Seriously, we all know Activision/Treyarch made a completely fucked up game for PS3, Bad Graphics, bad connections, and they admit it, by saying that we should swap our games then, fuck that, I bought this game because I thought it would be good, and now they come with this bullshit..Just retards.

If only Xbox 360 was released way later than PS3.

First PS3 gets  fucked up graphics in Mafia 2, now this.

even on the call of duty forums the guy who is suppose to listen to the community and do his job is not even doing that i can't find his exact post to quote it(as the forums are flooded daily with complaints)

"We are listening to your problems we are working as fast as we can with Sony Entertainment to get fixes out to you a fix normally takes 4-6 weeks to be released as Treyarch does a full 2 week of working on the script then 2 weeks testing it then Sony Entertainment gets a hold of it and tests it themself before making it live

In the mean time on the xbox i got to the 10th presige already if you would like to play add my xbox live account <insert acct here(i can't remember :P)>"

It is complete and under bullshit my cousin works with Sony Entertainment he creates some of the patch for the system and he says that it takes max 3 weeks to get the fix live.

As you can see Treyarch is trying to cover there ass and get more time...

That would look awesome under a 17 inch, 2 tonne CRT monitor. Just like my high schools PC room!

Anyway, it's sad that they are trying to screw over PS3 users like this. Thankfully I sold COD to get GT5 2 weeks after playing.

I enjoyed Black Ops a lot at the beginning, but ever since all these problems on the PS3 started, it ruined the experience, and tbh, Black Ops is starting to get boring already.

Anyways, about the problems, have any of you seen about Modern Warfare 2?

Its ridiculous the amount of problems on Call of Duty games on PS3, instead of releasing a new game every year I'd rather they'd just create a bigger, bug free game.

But like a lot of games nowadays, quality is gone and its all about the money.

Looking for value for money?

Get Gran Turismo 5, amazing game, for sim-drivers, AND arcade drivers, for drivers with a controller, for drivers with a wheel, for drivers who like NASCAR, for drivers who like Formula 1, for drivers who want to experience the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, the list just goes on and on without even mentioning the features like the camera in the game.

Black Ops is boring probaly why I haven't touched it in over 9 days now, I went back to MW2 to play Knife only SnD which is far more fun and if you haven't tried it do it, pisses all the QSers off massively when your ruin their 360 jump shots lol.

Yeah, but shutting down a server, i guess Activision will understand that doing such things might be a big minus for their own wallet.

Maybe then will activation will see how much money they are losing and work along side with treyacrh to get a proper fix out to the community before putting servers online.

With servers offline they lose A LOT of money and so does treyacrh as they get a percentage
