Bringing this topic up for the sake of all.
I find ironic the fact that people take time to write these tutorials.

Something must be clear: There will be no perfect administration till administrative duties are done by humans.

From what I understand, I think what Void meant to say was " While administration work is done by humans, it will never be completely perfect. "

And Malcolm, you are a droid, didnt you know?  :)

The entire reason we have Hydra/Hunter on the server is because cops don't know how to work together. Sadly

A simple typo...he meant that no-one is perfect, and while the administration team is human there will always be errors.

Salt and hate won't take us anywhere.
And we do not try to be real life, as why would you ever play real life if you have one ? We play the GTA universe, and our players should try to live in the GTA world, not the real one.

An excellent and well-written post, I must say.

I don't mean to insult the same team I enjoy and love working with, but I have to agree with the idea that the lack of strictness from the administration in general in addition to the massive influx of players, has become one of the key factors behind the vast increase of rulebreaking and lowering of general standards for the players in the aspect of rule-abiding. In just about every board, you can see players and admins being openly disrespected by rogue and irresponsible players.

The old saying goes that "a bad apple will spoil the good ones in the basket", and this is true. The lack of general strictness has led to the increase in rulebreaking, which is witnessed by more and more players who begin to think that they can get away with it as the offenders are not being punished anyway. In order to solve the general problem that besets our community today, the administration must include the prevention of the spread of such mindsets as one of their key priorities, which involves stopping it at the source; the massive propagation of rulebreaking. It's a vicious cycle that will continue on its own if it is not cut off.

The role of the administration to players is like the role of parents; to guide and to teach. If you do not discipline your children and allow them to rulebreak as they please, chances are they will grow up to become school dropouts, drug addicts, criminals, murderers, and other pests to society. On the other hand, if you instill proper discipline and values in them, then they would grow up to become responsible individuals who in turn will become good parents. In the Argonath aspect, players who are taught to be good by good admins, can end up becoming good admins themselves, as opposed to players who think that rulebreaking is allowed as they will not get punished anyway.

A large portion of our regular players have been rulebreaking (including slandering other players and the administration), especially some who have been in this community for years. Such individuals already know the rules and therefore possess no reason to rulebreak. As a result, they deserve to be punished ruthlessly by the administration as to prevent new players from following their bad example, and for the offenders to either be rehabilitated as new players or leave.

The point I'm trying to insinuate here is simple. A stricter admin team will lead to a moan-free server (or at least one where the moan falls to very negligible levels) and a happier community, through force and power of a moaner purge if necessary.

Before you jump to such conclusions, I am not saying every admin should be strict and ruthless, no. Admins must be disciplinarians, yet be capable of exercising kindness where it is necessary. New players will be frightened by extremely ruthless admins, while they can turn rogue as a result of admins who are far too nice. Admins can be inclined further to one side, yet be excellent as long as they possess both traits. A very good example would be Gandalf and Aragorn, with their contrasting natures, yet who still manage to operate as efficient admins.

While players in general have broken rules more and more over time, we the administration have also been at fault for not preventing it properly.

The logic is simple. If notorious rulebreakers and moaners are eradicated from the community, the result will be a peaceful environment where everyone can be happy.

The administration has the power and capability to handle it most of the way, but order cannot be achieved without cooperation from all sides. If players choose to abide by the rules, then everyone will have less problems to worry about. Admins and players must work hand in hand for a better community.

Slander is the act of stating falsities in order to destroy the good name of a person or a group, yet the things in my above posts are fact, so it doesn't qualify. Your argument is invalid.

You, Luigi, haven't observed the server for more than 2 years as an admin. We have given players too little punishment in the long run, and that has caused them to rulebreak more. How many people in this community have been banned more than 5 times when the amount of permbans was supposed to be 2 at the most per person? Certainly more than we'd like.

The high incident count of rulebreaking and flaming from the regulars and trolls on these forums, and on the server, is enough evidence to negate your statement. Look around you.

I guess this is to make the entire community aware as well. The title itself indicates that this is not solely directed to the administration.

Very good post I will say, but, why are IV:MP admins writing about SA:MP administration? I'm sure you have your own boards for this...

This topic is not just aimed at SA:MP Administration, it is aimed at all of the different Argonath Servers players and administration, but due to the fact that SA:MP is probably the largest of the Communities Servers we have posted it here.

All of us which have put this together have spent far more than enough time seeing the workings of things on the SA:MP Server, I have been registered on the SA:MP Server since 2008, as well as Thomas and Dell who still rather new to the community compared to Thomas and myself yet shares the same goal as many of us do.
