The deal-breaker for the Argonath Minecraft server is that it's so slow on updating to the newest releases.

How come? The latest official release is 1.8.1, which is the one we are using since a while already...

A lot of people are playing the newest 1.9 updates. And even when the official release for 1.9 comes, the Argonath server won't update until all of the plugins have also been updated.

Personaly I've had to host my own server to test out the latest features with my bros. PS: The new stuff are SEX.

And what about when 1.9 releases officialy? Will the maps be reset so we get the new biomes? We've been lingering on this one for a while now, I personaly think it's healthy for the server and the players to reset it every once in a while.

It is difficult to keep a server up-to-date when the way the game works is being constantly updated, and thus effecting the compatibility of plugins each time a major update occurs. Even if just 1 plugin doesn't work, it can cause major problems which can even cause the server to become unstable and crash often.

The supplier of all the plugins does not recommend updating servers unless they recommend it, and they have not yet recommended that any server updates past 1.8.1 yet.

Personally, I'd prefer an out-of-date server that runs smoothly, rather than an up-to-date experimental server that is down all the time and can run limited plugins.

In think the main problem is that the plugins rely on bukkit.

And since the bukkit people need to rewrite parts of the core each time an update is released, it takes longer time to update the server.

Not only the core. But the plugins also need to be updated.

The time to update would be shorter if Zaila could find someone who are knowledgeable in Java. Since then the plugins could be updated to the newest bukkit on-demand.


Life has been a fucking hell recently, including accepting what has happened to me in the past. Dunno if life will ever get better but at the least I'm still hanging on. Lol.
