It's not "cop plus <something in between> is civilian"
This is simply "Cop is civilian" which means Cop=civilian.

But civilian isn't always cop, so you can't say "civilian is cop", therefore "civilian isn't cop", or civilian =/= cop.

In those circumstances that were in words explained by Xander, Altair and me it does make  a whole  lot of a  difference. See, this is what I see in Mathematicians. They can calculate and deal with x's and y's but when it comes to the real worlds  situation they don't know how to interpret the situation.

Very correct, we are taught many different things in school, college, and on the job. We are taught these things to implement them at the necessary times.
