That only happens in cases such as you named for yourself - with a shitload of stuff attached.. But the reason that is unlikely isn't because of that, it's because it worked before the installation / his friends altering the software.

Well the issue with Win 7 is it tries to run many, many drivers at the same time and may be using a lot of the USB controller's bandwidth, causing all the crashes. Try uninstalling all the drivers instead and see if everything still works. I bet it would as Win7 has it's own version of them somewhere.

This should do the job:

Open Run in Accessories, type Regedit and hit enter. Locate this:
HKeyCurrentUser\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\DnsCacheEnabled"=dword:0

You need to change the dword for DnsCacheEnabled to 0. After this, perform a soft reset.
If DnsCacheEnabled does not exist, create it as a DWORD value.
