Many think it will be useful for their social life. That's social pressure. In fact, its called fashion craze.
No, it's called being useful for my social life. There is no easier way to get everyone into town at the correct time than by organising an event on Facebook.

Because it is.
That's social pressure. In fact, its called fashion craze.
If "fashion crazes" is a term you use to describe something useful that's peaking at the moment, then by all means, call it as such. It's called looking to improve your life.

stop not liking it because it's popular, you hipsters.

I have a facebook account and like many people do, I point out its downsides. If I hated it, I wouldn't have an account.
You find it life improving because that's how the life is today. Doing everything from a chair.

Not that I complain. There are valid reasons why facebook has "likers" and "haters". But we can't actually turn to ascetics.
Still pointing out that the society controls your demand for crazes.

The advertisements are really invasive and they search them following a "keyword" pattern on your profile. Plus the all knowing eye thing.
They know your location. But we shouldn't complain at it because we all agreed to this.

The facebook ad system is perfect.  It allows advertisers to choose their audience by letting them select their target age group, location, gender, etc. It's not invasive at all, the advertisers don't get to know anything about you.

Yes, facebook does know your location. Guess what? So does every website you visit (including SAMP )

They don't withdraw information from you(the advertisements). They scale/target groups. That was the original thought.
That's why its invasive. There are no pop ups or such, but the adverts have psychological functions. To lure.

FACEBOOK MUST DIE!

The fact that facebook knows all your information is true, when you register you give them all your information, when you upload pictures they know what you look like. Think of it this way: You give them your email address, your postcode (Which can be used to find your house), your date of birth your sex and then when you get into facebook you upload pictures of yourself which allows them to know where you live, how old you are and know what you look like, pushing de-activate button on your facebook is useless as said, all of the things on your facebook are already saved.

I have facebook but I'm a no-life so I havnt even uploaded a pictures of myself, and I havnt been on my facebook since like 2008, but it's also the same for google and youtube, you give them everything about you, they could  knock on your door and murder you for no reason tomorrow if they wanted to because they know that much about you. I never EVER give my correct postcode out to any website for example, the only people that have my postcode is my bank, school I used to go to and all courses I'm currently on, you can say it's just being stupid if you want to, but maybe I just don't want a company full of people I don't know sh*t about knowing everything about me. :)

Guess what. If you're smart enough to not register, they won't know shit.

Also in theory, every website/server/etc knows your location, unless you're using masked IP.

Yes but so many IP's connect to these massive sites that it's really unlikely they'd find you through it unless your unlucky enough, plus like I said every site I register on I give false information...

Facebook allows you to delete instead of deactivate, we've already covered that.

And it only knows what you give it. It's your fault for putting every single thing about you on the Internet for everyone to look at. It's not like Facebook is the only entity that's going to see it.

Yes, the point of advertisements is increasing sales.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advertising

And so what if Facebook knows all your information?
How could that be a bad thing?

And Nexxt, good one - I raged.
Google+ is a pile of shit that tries to copy Facebook but ends up being slower, with far fewer features, and crappy design decisions that make the thing considerably more difficult to use. I'm astonished that people are going to it, but I guess there are a lot of hipsters these days who will go to anything new even if it is worse.
