How would this drug differentiate between an infected and non infected cell? For it to do that it must somehow enter every cell as virus remain within the cellular structure and bind to the receptor of each virus in every infected cell - the drug becomes as destructive to the cells of the human as AIDS which itself is an autoimmune disease. Even if the drug manages to bypass this in laboratory testing, it'll be atleast ten years before the drug is available on the market providing it passes all trials and there lies the biggest problem, if this drug is being compared to an antibiotic then surely it must have the potential for mass immunisation i.e. do to HIV/AIDS with DRACO what the WHO did with Smallpox with antibiotics (which took fifty years from the discovery of antibiotics to its eradication) therefore it will probably be many years after the cost of producing the drug would be enough to produce hundreds of millions of doses for free.

The fact that we have free healthcare doesn't mean we won't get affected by the price of the drug. If it is too expensive, then the health services will not purchase it for widespread usage, and will reserve it's usage for special cases only.

Is it confirmed yet?

It's quite impossible to destroy the HIV microbe and the chances are low its a definite cure for it. They will probably test it on some 'volunteers' to see its effects first as usual, then sell it to pharmaceutical companies and maybe it will be distributed to Ministries of Health for a quite high price. So don't expect free healthcare is for these kind of things. Free healthcare is for check-ups and antidotes against colds, flus and sirups. Not for HIV cure.

What will happen, if it is indeed a cure?

Massive protests all around the world against governments and pharmaceutical companies as usual for not distributing it freely with healthcare cover. It already happened when there was a lawsuit against South Africa about blocking affordable drugs to fight AIDS in Africa. It will happen again and as usual the pharmaceutical company sharks will profit from our illnesses by selling the drugs in impossible to afford prices.

I really hope this is a cure for HIV. I don't care if it cures the flu, you can survive that but HIV just sucks, I would literally kill myself to end the suffering.
