WTF was that? We were after some criminals when we everyone all of sudden got teleported to Malibu, then teleported in the sky near malibu and fell down..

The VC:MP server's security is really beginning to make me wonder. The last year or so there have been a lot of rumors floating around regarding access to RCON and the server files.

I heard the RCON pass is going to be changed in 2.0 but that's quite a while off.

P.S.: Why does the server keep crashing?

A few people already confessed to me they know the RCON pass.
They are all very much known to you guys: Chdk, Yankee, and a few other guys that were banned in history.

I don't see what's stopping everyone from changing it now. It's not like it's hard to do. You simply just have a Dev edit the server config, restart the server, and notify the other Devs of the new one with strict instructions to not leak it...

RCON?!?! :O Wow...Valve and steam are sh*t because I always have to buy the games -.-. I always RCON was something else...in my mind I thought it was a BSOD ;D. Changing RCON version and Pass may fix this problem even though this is months and months old.

RCON and online game downloading sites are completely separate things.

RCON is an administration tool for, (and sometimes separate or attached to), a GTA multiplayer modification server that allows those with access to control specific actions on the server, such as restarting it, shutting it down, and doing various things with scripts, if the RCON for that GTA multiplayer modification server supports such.

RCON isn't that advanced, yet, SugarD. RCON is however as you said a simple administration tool which allows to kick/port-ban players from the server and also modify many visual aspects of Vice City while playing on servers such as enabling the green/white scan lines, changing skins and weathers, setting off car alarms (which are extremely annoying) and so on.

I'm aware of that. I was just giving the user who questioned it a broad definition, hence the "if it supports it" style statements. Thank you for adding to it, though. It helps with the overall understanding so users don't get confused with this topic. :)

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa there boi.RCON is NOT a GTA MP Modification. It is the main admin tool in my favourite games ^_^:Half-life,Counter Strike and all other games with Source engines.

RCON is not only for GTA Multiplayers.

It is also used in major game series such as Call of Duty. Not sure about rest tho'  :razz:
