Agreed. To prevent further fighting, due to the number of moderators and users in the community, it may be a good idea to make a rule about no handling reports against yourself too. :roll:

I swear when there was forum moderator rules it said not to do that and that you should get someone else to act on it / investigate.

That's actually not true. I've caught it several times on ARPD Forums, and had a few reports re-checked later that were handled here. The forum software does not prevent you from checking a report against your own username, which is odd, because it should theoretically offer a way to turn that off. My best guess is that the SMF Developers just haven't thought of that yet.

Some of the reports are invalid anyway.

However, it still is not a good display of conduct to handle reports against yourself. I do assume though that anyone high ranked enough to access the Moderation Center isn't simply going to use their report management rights to cover their asses, or else the rest of us should take notice.

1. That doesn't change that it happens. :P
2. Agreed, however it's not hard to get away with. It does not log who closes the report in the Moderation Logs, or even the Administration Logs IIRC. It only logs actions to the report itself for moderation done to the actual topic, whether it relates to the report or not. That means any user with the rights could simply close the report when others aren't online to see it, and unless someone has a reason to go specifically check, investigate, and handle it, no one would ever notice that it even existed, or there had been a problem to begin with.
