Hello there,

I am interested in purchasing a net book. I travel around a lot and I need something that is light to carry around with me. So I chose the net book. I found this model and I am concerned, will this run SAMP? Bare in mind that the net book is going to be clean. The net book is only to be used for 'portable SAMP gaming' and general web browsing.

ASUS X101CH-BLK043S Netbook - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/asus-x101ch-blk043s-netbook-12046808-pdt.html

Processor: Dual-core Intel Atom N2600 (1.6 Ghz, 1Mb L2 Cache)
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Starter (Will most likely convert to XP)
RAM: 1GB (Will be upgraded)
HDD: 320GB

It should play San Andreas without a hitch which means obviously SA-MP will also work.

Don't confuse SA-MP with San Andreas.

I have a Samsung netbook with about exactly the same specification. It can't run Quake without issues.
Netbooks were -not- made for gaming, serious or not, they were made for web browsing and portability.

My loyalties do not lie with the server, players or game, no. They lie with the two men who built and sustain this community, for without them, there is no Argonath RPG

Yes I know that Sphex, its just a bonus if it can run SAMP. Thanks for the feedback btw guys. So I guess I'll buy that. Its got a HDMI port!

There is no internet at the PCworld shop therefore I can't go on the netbook itself and check it via canyourunit.

Canyourunit.com is a really really unreliable way to check if a system can run a game. The website only counts the "on the front" numbers, not the raw specification of the overall hardware.
A CPU's power, amount of memory and a large hard-drive don't make a system capable to play games, that is down to the video card. The wool that high street companies such as PC World, Currys and Comet have pulled over people's eyes is that a system with a "huge 600GB" hard drive and a "whopping 6GB of RAM" and a "speedy Intel dual-core" is perfect for "media" work, where they fail to mention that "media work" is actually very simple graphics editing and video playback. I'm not directing this at you personally at all, I'm just throwing this out there for anyone who is thinking of buying a computer system from a high street store - just be wary of what you see in adverts and in the shops. Plus, any computer store who's assistant staff don't know the clock speed of a processor...I tend to steer clear of unless i'm buying components.

That's how it works in retail and sales. You upsell.

There is tow ways to know if it will run samp and samp will work good or not.
First - http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx
Second - compare what type of ram, graphics card, Processor you got and what needed to make the game works good by searching about it in google.

Hope it was helpful
