Hey guys,

so my problem is this: Sometimes, doesnt matter how long Im at my computer or what Im doing, my Montore deactivates and shows: No Signal.
Also the sound is lagging then. I have to reboot my PC then to get back the Signal. This is extremely annoying and I dont know what to do.
I already did check the cable and cleared my actual PC hardware from dirt !

Specs:

OS: Windows 7
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800GT
RAM: 2GB
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+

I hope you can help me.

"Sound is lagging" could you explain that further? Generally when you see the 'No signal' message or similar it's a problem with the monitor itself or the graphics card. Best advice i can give for the time being, run the computer without the graphics card, remove it completely to see if the issue persists a process of elimination in other words.

To be honest it could be anything, even your power supply, it's speculative at the moment.

I know this problem it used to happen with me, but it usually happened rarly during alt tabbing. So here are my questions: Are you sure it happens when you're away from your computer also, or only when you're switching applications? and How often does it happen. Also by sounding lagging you mean a certain audio thing keeps repeating or sound working but cutting off in the middle. Also if posible try using diffrent screen on same CPU or diffrent CPU on same screen to see which one of them is causing the problem.

With sound lagging i mean the sound is working but cutting off parts.
And yes it happens when im AFK too.
I dont have another monitore to check if its monitore side or PC side... also i dont have another CPU.
And, is it actually possible to run a Computer without graphics card ?
Actually I dont think the problem is caused by the monitore, since i got my Receiver on it too and when I watch TV with it, the problem doesnt happen.

Yes Sam it's possible, you'll have onboard graphics that are available. Even better try the card inside of another computer. Also do not get CPU and GPU mixed up please. CPU would be your processor GPU your graphics processor(Graphics card)

Dude, CPU is Processor, GPU is Graphics Card. You told me to try another CPU, but im not owning another Processor... well nvm. I cant run without my card since my Graphics Card has the only 2 VGA inputs... When I take the GraCa out, I dont have a slot to put the Monitore cable in.

As I understand it, you tell me to remove my graphics card, and then start my PC and check if the problem still occurs ?

EDIT:

Just when I played SAMP a few mins ago, my screen got frozen, sound stopped and Ctrl-Shift-Esc or Ctrl-Alt-Delete didnt work anymore. So I had to restart my PC.

EDIT2: The Problem I just explained, happened arount 10 times today. Saving money to buy a new PC already... Man will I really have to keep this problem untill I get a new PC after CHRISTMAS ???!!! :(

Correct, or if you have another computer try the graphics card you removed from the problem computer into the other one. Then if the problem persists in a different computer with that same graphics card, you may very well have found the problem.

Doesn't look like an issue with the card imho, seems like the computer is just crashing.

Downloading a monitoring program such as CoreTemp to see how hot your PC is getting could be a good start.

My friend had a black screen and I had freezing part when we had same problem, dirty inside the pc. Make sure it's all clean there or if you didn't do it for long time try to clean once again.

My brother had the same thing on his PC, the problem was the motherboard, it was completely fried. Also it would explain your shymptons, sound lagging and such.

Come to think of it i once had similar symptoms, as per this topic http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?topic=81691.msg1275572#msg1275572, where the computer would freeze(as far as usb was concerned) audio would continue to play but with slight distortion. As silly as it sounds i stopped using the USB mouse i was using at the time, switched it with another and not since had an issue. Of course i still have the Winbond issue and the white block issue within mediaplayer if i go back to using the other hard drive as a main drive.

Anyway rather than guessing what is the issue actually troubleshoot every bit of hardware that is possible.
