Possible way to prevent RS5 losses.

Hello all,

I have made this topic to address the possible fix to the complaints of the RS5 reset. My resolution that I think would be the best is to split the server into two. One with RS4 and original things and one with the highly anticipated RS5. Now with that being said, there are also consequences to doing so. Splitting the server could potentially mean less new players, which is the lifeline for Argonath. The first thing players so is click on the "Players" tab when searching for servers. Of course an player wants to join a server with a high amount of players. But this could also stop the complaints of players not wanting the reset. Success comes from sacrifice. I know you may just bigger off the topic but it was just an idea. Feel free to reply with your thoughts.

Argonath is hosted by Azellus, owned by Sauron. They can do whatever they want. It doesn't cost them a penny to add another server. They are a company that sells game servers. It costs them no more to have another server than it would to only have one server.

Wrong. It costs them every time because it's another potential loss in money, not to mention they have no money coming in to pay for the server they have just rented out to themselves. Maintenance costs are all on them. That's why they accept donations and have ads on all Argonath RPG websites.

No such thing needed, RS4 is bugged to hell, RS5 is new fresh, recoded from 0, and shall replace RS4. That thing about SA-MP not listing names, will be solved by the incoming panel, at least once it's released I guess

There are many possibilities to keep things, not only because of running a server, but also because of our expertise. To write a piece of software that would read the current accounts and puts the data in to a new database would not be impossible. So why are we not going to do that ?
Currently there are many players who are actually inactive, but keeping an account to hog their possessions.
Other players are enjoying millions they gained from script abuse that was discovered later, or from the known methods of scamming the server through multiple accounts.
There are of course many more players who have gathered their belongings through hard work, but it is unfair to them that abusers get money easier.
Now our view is always that money is secondary, but for most players it is important. So to give everyone equal chances in a new script where we are bringing very newthings, we are going to reset most things.
Remember our last reset was in October 2007, and I believe that we can keep the accounts after this reset for the next 5 years at least.

Gandalf: I totally understand what you mean in saying that. To new players though, a reset is beneficial.
Luke: It is not I that cares so much, in fact, I LOVE the idea of a reset. This was just an idea for those constantly complaining about it.

But in my opinion as a veteran member of the community, its not hard to get money once you figure the flow of things out anyways, so its not so much an issue of getting cash but educating newer players on how to take advantage of the opportunities given to them.

I fully agree with Safety's post in every part. I think all of the players here try to gather money and make their way of gaming better by having their own cars, bizz, houses. Fun is RPing itself, though. Well money can be gathered soon anyway but I can assure you that the most of the people do not wish to start everything from the begining.

It's not up to me or everyone here, this is job owners take care and I think they want the best for our community.

P.S Well, pictures appearing in my mind if this RS5 going to happen. Like the whole server being cops or growing weed to every single damn weedfield
