A Quick Note

Before I begin, let me introduce myself. As you can see, my name is Kytt. I've been playing in SAMP for a while, after I came over by way of Papa Ebauns' personal invitation from The Specialists RP. I've been RPing in general for about 10 or 11 years now (I'm 21), tracing all the way back to text-based chat rooms on Lycos. I'm the co-creator, as well as a GM of my own text-based game called Razor's Edge. I'm saying all this not just to show off or make you think I'm cooler than I am, but because I'd like to illustrate that I'm not some noob who had never RPed before.

When I first started playing in SAMP I brought over a character that I had in TSRP, Evan Delancy. He's a "personal assistant", typically hired by mob bosses, assassins, and crooked politicians and businessmen alike. I enjoy this character because he has a level head under all circumstances and while he can act as a typical assistant would (doing paperwork, chauffeuring, and the like), he also has a background in three types of martial arts (judo, kung fu, and Thai kickboxing) and is trained in the assembly, disassembly, transport, and usage of most major weapons and explosives. While he probably could be a mob boss, assassin, or crooked something or other on his own, he chooses to take a side roll as his place in the world because he doesn't wish to draw attention to himself lest he become the target of malicious intents and not his employer. He is both caring and cold, and can alter how much he is of each depending on the requirement of the situation. Again, I do not say all this to show off, but because I'd like to further illustrate that I'm not some noob, as well as explain the background of the character that I've been playing for at least (if not more) a year.

Now, here's the problem I encountered on your server. I joined, found a car, drove around a bit, tried to find someone to hire me. Ended up driving the train around for a while just for shits and giggles (I didn't even know you could drive the train!) and I finally settled on walking around doing very little. I was then approached by a few people- one I remember as Cindy or something, one as something Burnett, one was Mozak I think (or something like it), and the ringleader was Andre. They ran up around me for no reason whatsoever and aimed guns at me, shouting "YOU ARE NOW KIDNAPPED!" (a move I thought was ever-so-classy). I ignored the blunt idiocy and decided to go with it; it was better than driving the train around in circles. As I was typing a /me command (as I am quite familiar with since we had them in TSRP as well), Burnett hit me from the side and Andre shouted "THIS IS AN RP - START RPING". I erased the /me command I was writing and wrote a new one, something along the lines of "/me moves back to dodge the punch and strikes out with the back of his fist." I hit enter and struck Burnett back. Andre shouted "LEARN TO RP" several times, and then shot me. When I respawned he said it three or four more times over the OOC chat regardless of what I said in my defense. I tried to explain that I was typing but he wouldn't listen. Being an admin, he was the law, and so people fell in line with him and started to talk shit about my ability to RP as well. I'd already died, but the same people ran up and surrounded me again. Andre shouted "RP THIS TIME". I decided to go with it again. They commanded me into the car and I stood outside it typing a /me command, conveying Evan's distaste for the situation and the characters kidnapping him. They drove me into a building and ordered me upstairs. I got out of the car and looked over at Andre (still swinging around his AK-47) and said "This is a mistake. You don't want to do it this way." (something I felt the wise, cool-headed Evan Delancy would say), to which he responded (typically) "LEARN TO RP", "START RPING". I began to write another /me command- he shot me once. I told him in OOC to chill out a bit and give me a chance to type. He responded "LEARN TO RP", and then "TYPE FASTER THIS IS KIDNAPPING". Clearly, this man was trained in roleplaying by the greatest masters themselves. I finally had enough and went to the car, hopped in it, and tried to drive off. I didn't care- I wasn't going to sit by and take that blatant stupidity. Someone jacked the car back from me mid-movement, then hit me with it. Andre froze me, and I called him an idiot for it. I wasn't incorrect, for the record, since he is an idiot. He said something akin to "Did you just call me an idiot?", and then I was shot and banned.

Honestly, I don't care about being banned. I don't think I'd have returned otherwise. I do, however, think that this is just something that needed to be brought to the attention of those in charge besides him. This is your roleplaying server? These are the people you choose to have power in it? I won't be back, I assure you, unless I hear some amazing phenomenal changes have gone on here. Farewell, ArgonathRPG.

None of you, as far as I could tell, were cops. Not only that, but I never saw any /me commands that alerted me to being cuffed. Maybe I would have seen something of the sort if you hadn't been flooding the chat with "LEARN TO RP" and "START RPING" (in IC chat, I might note).

I didn't run at first. In fact, it wasn't until I decided that I was fed up with people punching me for no reason and you shouting OOC stuff in IC that I ran off, and that was only because I didn't want to be part of your lackluster, half-assed "RP" anymore.

You're right. That's why I don't play a famous person. I created the character myself, he's not stolen from anywhere. He has a lot of background because I've put time and effort into him. My character has a ton of RP-ed out background, about a year's worth (as I've noted before). I'm not going to make him into just another civilian just because I came to a new server. I really enjoy playing Evan Delancy, so excuse me if I choose to continue playing him as I go from server to server. There's no rule against that, is there?

I'd beg to differ. I've been on servers that were better than ArgonathRPG (no offense). As I mentioned in my first post, I was one of the first people involved with Papa Ebauns' SAMP RP server. If you've never heard of it, you can see a reference to it under the description of "Classic RP" here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAMP#Role-Playing

I know how to RP, and I've made that clear. RP is done through /me commands and not running up and hitting people randomly or shooting them, or even running up and shouting "YOU ARE KIDNAPPED". It's done through character creation and development. The characters I've seen here are so two-dimensional that I could blow them over with a single breath.

Not to mention that, as I said before, if you read my story you'll realize that I didn't run until I had decided that this wasn't actually an RP but rather a random scenario that had no real point, IC. I gave up because I couldn't take the way that the "RP" was being handled, especially since after I died they re-approached me at the spawn point and tried to initiate it again (which is such a rudimentary rule of RPing that I was shocked that they broke it). Not to mention that this little "RP" was being run by an admin. Disgraceful.

Seriously, though- ban me. I really don't care. Just don't let this situation go unnoticed by the server owner. It'd be a shame.

just because you don't flame doesn't mean you aren't bringing down the reputation of the server by theses accusations, got a complaint against any player(s)? contact [email protected],they will be more than happy to deal with your complaints but don't make a topic about it, we don't need to hear your bitching here, and also Nobody cares how long you have RPed for '11 years' or whatever..Andre would not be an Admin on an RPG server if he didn't know to RP... request topic locked again this is going nowhere and complaints should just be sent to the above email kytt not paraded around the server forums in pointless topics, you must know what the saying is.. got anything negative to say? then don't say it at all here.. use the email

I won't use an email, because I wanted to see if the members of the server would defend one of their own blindly or actually consider that maybe someone who came to the server to have fun and RP was wronged.

So far I've been more than let down by this community. This is how you're going to become a good RP community? By taking the few good RPers that come by and running them out and claiming that they're just "bitching" when they bring up a genuine complaint? Good work, guys. Way to go.

EDIT: By the way, a little note- If all admins on RP servers knew how to RP, that'd be ideal. Andre, however, does not. And screaming "LEARN TO RP" at people who try to RP is really just the most dickish of moves.

no, no i know your wrong there actually buddy, when you send a complaint to that email i know that the main admins that read and reply to it are well capable of seeing who is in the wrong regardless of if 'their own person' is involved, you don't know much about our community here at Argonath and if you did then you will know that we do stick together but not when there is wrong done.. if your case is genuine, send an email and it will be dealt with. but as far as i can see here you are trying to show the other players like me here who read this that our server is no good, this is not 'the source' the source of the problem would be you or Andre and you might be innocent, im not stating otherwise but until the main admins read your email, they cannot decide who is innocent and who is guilty in this matter. i don't know why you continue to post on this website if you do not have any interest in the game, you are wasting your time, and so am i replying to you, this is going nowhere, so if you have a complaint send it to [email protected] please no one wants to see people opening topics on the forums here and complaining against our server and our community here

I dont want to get involved, however to some extent I agree with Kytt, in that a lot of scenarios are very lame, and can be made a lot better, perhaps unique? Be more creative, if you take a knock, you should learn from mistakes!

The [email protected] will go straight to the main admins, whilst the forum cannot be completely monitored by main admins (who are currently working on the new scripts) so this thread could easily missed by anyone with the relevant authority.

It might even be worth sending the link to this thread via the email.

We planned that kidnap for almost half a hour, getting all kidnappers together and all that kind of stuff

It was a good planned RP - The thing is - How can you take it
The part at respawn - IN RP - You just cam from hospital, we were there for payback - RP enough?

Seriously, though- ban me. I really don't care. Just don't let this situation go unnoticed by the server owner. It'd be a shame.

Of course server owner has seen/will see it - But also he doesn't care when a random NON-RP'er comes here and tells "Remove ANDRE's Admin rights" and then tells lies
