Overheating and shut down only for a few games

So, recently my Pc is going nuts.
Playing games like SAMP, LoL, Wow, PES  and a few others,  wont make any problem for my pc while playing at almost highest graphics.

Anyway, playing games like Diablo 3, Metro 2033 and a few other games, makes my pc go overheat and then shut down.

So im trying to find a solution here.
My pc is normally a bit higher than normal temp rates ( as its summer and room temp is like 30c + ).
So, why on a few games, my pc is doing well, not crashing, not overheating and not shutting off and on a few other games, after about 10 minutes of play, pc shut downs cause of high temp.


PC Specs:
Gfx: Geforce 9800gtx
Ram: 2gb
Running on Windows XP
Inter Core 2 2.40GHz 2.41GHz

Do you have any idea about temperatures when the shutdown occurs?

Use a temperature sensor program that measure and logs the temperatures. This way you can find out how hot your PC goes and what component in your PC may cause shutdown.

How is the airflow around/near and inside of the PC case?
How clean is the CPU Head-sync, how clean are the fans, if you have any on the PC case?
How clean is the GPU fan/s?

The average CPU shutdown temperature is something insanely high, for your PC to be reaching that, there has to be something wrong if it is the CPU causing it to shut down, either not enough veltalation near/in the PC case, or the thermal paste needs to be replaced with fresh paste after all the hot and humid temperatures.

Cleaned almost all the PC case like 2 months ago
Im gonna try clean gpu fan and fans inside case again and try to keep temp logs

I have fan on my GPU it was just Latvian so no work .

  Only in Latvia.
All you need is like an air compressor to blow the fans clean, then give then a gentle wipe down with a dry cloth/tissue paper.

Like Devin said, cooling paste is also of importance. I replace the cooling paste on all the videocards I handle while they're out of the machine, and it decreases the temperature at least three degrees centigrade every time. Is this a custom built PC, and if so, are you using an older case? The case might not give the components enough airflow.

Actually its a bit old case with new Gfx and things inside.

Gfx is almost as big as the case :P

There are many games that causes certain GPUs to overwork. I had this problem with my old laptop in games such as Mass effect 2 or Metro 2033. Had to either google the fix out or make sure the path around the fan is not blocked.

3. Temperature a couple of minutes after gameplay
