Excuse my ignorance... but, how on earth do you make it?

I've seen a few people online discussing how much money they have and how $800,000 for example is "not a lot of money at all." Then there's me. I have $8k in the bank, sat there in a car I don't even own, with guns I didn't even buy, thinking to myself: "Wow, I guess that makes me poor. No wait, I am below poor." I then put myself out of my misery by driving my already severely damaged car off a cliff - only to respawn again with even less money.

This game is harder than real life.

Some say do drug deals because that can earn some good money, but then again you can get either arrested by cops or scammed by lowlifes.
There is an opportunity to earn money by buying and selling houses and businesses although that can be a really slow market and often cause you to lose more than you earn.
You could always work as an ARPD Officer although there's more chance of you winning the lotto than earning quickly off that, depending on your style, that is jailing or just killing.
Oh and; You shouldn't lose cash when you die, that's rather odd.

Oh right, when you die, you lose $100 from the displayed cash, although once you enter an interior/relog it returns to you, just like the PnS system, it requires you to have cash on you, but it doesn't actually charge you.
The money returns to you upon relogging or entering an interior, you can see your actual cash via /invent will then have more displaying on hand(Cash) than what is showing in the top left corner.

Depends what career path you plan on taking.

If you want to be a law abiding citizen, then you can opt for the legal jobs such as fireman, medic, taxi driver, etc.
You can also become a police officer. Your main goal is to enforce the laws and bring suspects to justice.
Being a criminal is popular in Argonath. You earn money by buying and selling drugs, or collecting them yourself then selling them on.

Those are the scripted ways to make money. You can also get a roleplay job by visiting the SA:MP Business and Offers section in the forum.

Basically, the more effort you put in, the more you earn.

Medics and firemen can earn a nice salary if there aren't a lot of players in the server. I've seen firemen earn 10k in just under 30 minutes.

i mean, when i joined argo in 2011 i was like 'WTF? everyone is rich. How can i make money? How will i buy one house? How will i buy one car?'

But if we have an aim we can achieve it!

like when i stated making money with fireman and drug dealing my first ambition was to have a house under 50K
