Make it illegal to PM players for drugs

Let' face the facts and conclude this topic 'till now:

1.) PMing someone for drugs is not a start of a RP scenario. It's a start of /give ID weed/heroin amount.

2.) One claims "PMing someone should be allowed to avoid getting cops involved".
- And what are the police's work again? It does not only consider of chasing orange dots only. It consider, responding to 911 calls, investigating them properly, helping citizens and enforce the RP state laws.

3.) Another claims "It looks like you're trying to enforce some type of strict RP"
- No I am not trying to create Argonath into a real life RP server. But I thought we should have some limitations. I can't actually say that RP is the first thing I find when entering Argonath's server these days, but when we PM someone "Want to buy weed" or anything similar to that, it looks like some sort of a freeroam and Cops'n Robbers server, where you are trying to avoid the roleplay of a drug dealer.

If you want to deal drugs, you should of course do it RPly. It hurts me to see after all these years, that when anyone mentions "Please RP it" or anything like that, you go straight up to me, having a grudge against us who wish the RP better and go like "OMG you want to turn argonath into a real life rp server!!! /REPORT /REPORT!!" well, the answer is: No, we are not trying to turn Argonath into a RP server, we are trying to NOT turn it into a Cops'n Robbers / Freeroam server. That's all.

I like the idea, though ... Do you really expect admins to check every PM, that comes in about drugs?
There are enough complaints in /report already, adding this rule might just flood the administration  :hit:

I though PM was an OOC chat. As it is used for discussions outside of your character. If someone PMs you wanting to sell weed, there's nothing the cops can do as it's legal to be in possession of it but not publicly use or sell. However heroin can allow police involvement.

  We don't believe in IC/ OOC. I could just say I found a letter with your phone number on, or you messaged me by FAX, or email or whatever.

Same thing if someone posts illegal advert in /ad or main chat.... cops can use that as evidence.


  You could cry "omg I said in OOC you can't arrest me", well like I said, we don't support that here. If anyone does this, just makes them look a bit silly.

Still there are ways of communicating in the server which are perseved to be more out of character than in character. I know we do not believe in that here, but it seems a bit silly that cops would go after someone just because they sent you a PM saying "Wanna buy heroin". You need evidence to act on something, not to just go off what someone has said - they could be lying.

  Here you are wRONg, and really I would not waste any admin time on this. Not that it could be enforced anyway.

  So what if they say they are lying, its RP... use imagination. Somehow it is silly to RP with this (i.e. cops actually investigating a report from civilian, rather than chasing orange men), yet perfectly logical to contact admins because someone is trying to sell you drugs?...  :conf:   Just tell them you would rather they contact by phone in future? Only need to contact admins if they are spamming you constantly when you already asked them not to send these messages.

Admins can not read it. Managers and higher can if they wish to have 10 lines per second spam.
As far as I know only Aragorn, Boromir and me are able to handle that for longer than 2 minutes.

I hardly doubt that any players will risk and lie to an administrator about lying in PM. Or you could just make a ProxDecetor include in the next RS5 script where you detect if anyone PMs "Selling drugs" or anything like that, like only admins can check it.

i don know about scripting servers yet
but couldnt it be possible to make a filter showing the pms of a special id?
And just another thing, gandalf, you dont like illegal ads, as seen in the ''illegal ads'' topic, but PMing everyone except cops and A-team is excactly the same ...
Or would you sms everyone in you thelephone book about selling drugs?
I wouldt even sms my closest frriends to sell drugs, i would handle it by talking to each other, and it should be the same on argonath
(this is an example, im not really selling drugs in rl :P)
