Don't get me wrong, I like that Microsoft has chosen to unify the users...but the sudden and unplanned way they have done it is pretty stupid in my opinion. Not only are both sides losing some features, but the loss of specific things, like communication with Yahoo! IM contacts, and the ability to share images through drag and drop...ya...that is just stupid to me. The fact that Skype also takes MUCH longer to receive messages from others makes me wonder if the move is even worth it. The term instant messaging is pretty obvious in it's meaning, but it's pointless if it's no longer actually instant...
You also forgot the rather excessive CPU and network usage that Skype has.

Compared to WLM... it does.

Yes, that too, thank you. :P

MSN/WLM ones it does, yes. I've done several tests by having WLM 2012, Skype 6 For Windows Desktop, Skype 6 For Windows 8 (the app version), and the Windows 8 Messaging app all open and running at once, as well as other combinations of them open and closed, and every time WLM 2012 beats them all, easily. There are even times where messages will come in up to 20 minutes after WLM 2012 has already received them.

Simply put, Skype was never built to handle true instant messaging...especially that of MSN/WLM's networks. It's not a fault of Skype so much it is a massive failure on Microsoft's part, but it's still a gigantic turn-off for me in the merge because it makes it entirely pointless if the messages are not received instantly in the instant messenger. Until Microsoft fixes this and the other issues I have previously mentioned, I will continue using my workaround methods to run both Skype and MSN/WLM together. I'm especially not losing my ability to communicate with Yahoo! IM users just because Microsoft is too lazy to patch Skype to enable it again, when their networks have already long since been supporting it for MSN/WLM for years.

Who knows, it might improve when it all migrates ;)

I seriously hope so, although hints from community members on the Skype Forums keep referencing that they have no plans to fix those issues.

I must say I've noticed some delay, but never anything more than a few minutes. Who needs to get a reply that quickly when talking to friends. If it's that important, I'm already in a call :D

Exactly, why say "It's slow" with let's say a 5ms delay? It's going to make absolutely no difference.
Besides it's not like a life or death matter if they don't get the message within the second either.

I am not talking about a 5ms delay. My posts say up to 20 minutes, not 20ms. :P

Yeah, I hope they do fix that before they officially make the move. But then again, its Microsoft we are talking about... you can't really "expect" anything from them -.-

MSN/WLM messaging in Skype, not Skype-to-Skype.

MSN/WLM messaging in Skype, not Skype-to-Skype.

Then there's no problem. It'll be gone soon enough :)
