I agree that VC:MP 0.4 is taking a long time given that Maxorator is doing it on his own, but we can't judge a release date because we don't know how far he is, and the year just started. :)

As for Squirrel, that doesn't make DDoS'es useless against it. The server itself is the one that lags until the crash. What we meant is that using the newer-version server with a more efficient language for said purposes would help keep it from hanging like it does when SA:MP is directly attacked, and the entire computer system lags. If someone attacks the server directly, it's going to go down no matter what version, language, or security software it's running.
I have seen plenty of attempts to DDoS squirell servers in vcmp wich all didn't had any effect on them.
A way to take down those servers is by going after the script but that requires more work.

Then those were not DDoS attacks. DDoS attacks cannot be stopped without incredibly expensive hardware and software, and even then they can have an effect on stuff. VC:MP does not contain any of that software.

Brian is talking about oopscrashers used on servers which is common by gypsys; It can be classed as a DDoS attack. But yeah what Brian is saying is that the programs do not work as well on Squirrell-based servers. Its an improvement in security compared to the current PAWN-based scripts that we have however it's not a certain block Brian.

We can judge based on what we've seen and continue to hear.. 0.4 is a long shot away.

DDoS = Distributed Denial of Services

What happens is not DDoS but DoS, also, the host can solve the problem w/ a good firewall.

Exactly. DDoS attacks are much larger, which makes it very difficult to stop.

So all you guys are saying is that there is no one that could stop this and once it happens, it always happens?

"Bro I got a gun and you have a knife
                            what would you do?"

As if in-direct attacks that took the server down wasn't enough

If the attackers are using the same clan tags, I would recommend adding a tagban on them.

Good idea, but maybe they are smart enough to change their names everytime. So they change their names looking like newbies names. For example: Badescu_Andrei (it is a clearly a RP name so you think that player is innocent, well that could be FAKE ! )

Then you start banning them like any other evader. The tagban would slow them down, though. :)

Many other server in VCMP has added that "tagban" on TBS members, but that doesn't do shit against them due to them changing subnets like socks.
