North Korea plans nuclear tests to "settle accounts with the US"

North Korea said today is will carry out a nuclear test and sent a warning to its “sworn enemy” America.

The National Defence Commission, headed by leader Kim Jong-un, blamed the US for prompting a UN resolution that condemned its December rocket launch.

North Korea is banned from carrying out missile activity but said the launch had been a peaceful effort to send a satellite into space.

But in a sabre-rattling statement, it indicated its launches also have a military purpose.

It said: “Settling accounts with the U.S. needs to be done with force, not with words, as it regards jungle law as the rule of its survival.”

“A nuclear test... will target against the US, the sworn enemy of the Korean people.”

It is not clear when or where the test will take place but US envoy for North Korea Glyn Davies said earlier: “We call on them not to do it.”

The US had no immediate response but earlier its envoy Glyn Davies urged North Korea not to explode an atomic device.

“Whether North Korea tests or not, it’s up to North Korea. We hope they don’t do it. We call on them not to do it,” he said in Seoul.

“It will be a mistake and a missed opportunity if they were to do it.”

As long as they use their arsenal against legitimate military targets the rest of the world shouldn't have a problem.

It seems that the North Korea is getting wiped off the map. It's funny how a small defenseless country like that threatens a giant beast like US.

Really it's who hits the button first. But yes it would be like the Falklands starting an attack against Russia, they just sign their own death certificate.

Or the USA.

Ah, your a funny guy. That missile will never re-enter the atmosphere. The US, China and Russia and few other countries have the technology to take out a missile before it comes anywhere near their country. And I wouldn't anticipate the United States taking action on North Korea first, I'd be more worried about China doing something first.

+1 for Korea.

+1 for them placing their own citizens who don't have the right to leave in danger by risking all out war? #logic.

North Korea knows what they are doing. I don't think they'll actually pull anything, they are just trying to prove that they aren't scared and won't take the US's shit. Which, I can understand honestly, we don't have a right to tell them they can't launch shit. But going as far as to tell us they're going to test a rocket aimed at us? Pretty dumb, and ignorant.

Nuclear technology in warfare shouldn't exist, in my eyes. It isn't designed to destroy leadership or designed to take out armies... its designed to kill civilians and make an economic crisis... Innocent civilians and a scale unimaginable. No country should have nuclear technology for anything other than power. That might just be me, but its not needed for anyone to have. Now look, a few loose nuts in some leaders head and he makes a nuclear threat to one of the leading nations in Nuclear Technology... smart.

Shitloads of countries have that technology.. It's nothing secret, how can you under-estimate them? What gives you the right? Also you never know, China and Russia may decide to help N.Korea, they arnt exactly the USA's friends.

I doubt if Russia even cares about the whole situation. China would do nothing since the rest of the world would implement an embargo on all their product exports and freeze their economy, causing civil unrest and so on.
