1. I mean in terms of design, he can require it for the gun to work, should he choose to do so. Again, these are just rumors I've heard, though. I'm not saying they are fact.

The file is already online and the design is already a working one. It's too late to be thinking about that now. Got myself a copy of the file already too, just incase they're actually going to change the design and ruin all the fun. I was thinking of building a 3D printer. It's not impossible, a friend of mine did the same.

Here's a picture of his machine:

He's still perfecting the design, and it can change. Just because it is released doesn't mean it's the final version. ;)

Good luck trying to change the design in the hundreds of thousands of files that already have been downloaded and are stored safely on HDDs. ;)

As long as it functions without any problems, which from my understanding it does, then I don't think anyone with malicious intentions will use anything else which will get him detected in metal detectors.

Why would they need to change those files? It's just a matter of releasing a new version. Obviously it's not going to be perfect the first time it's given to the public to use.

Because they've been downloaded over 100000 times and are undetectable.

Also, I wonder what the longevity on these things is. Probably not that long if used a lot. Plastic + friction = no-no

So? What does that have anything to do with releasing a new version when they update the design?

2D bombs are dangerous man, you turn them flat and won't be able to see them.

Why print a gun? Its like $1,000+ for the printer when you can get a much more decent weapon for that price. Pathetic.

Because in the long run its better.
I can make as many guns as I want and only pay for the ink.
Make a group of 20 people and make guns for all my holmies. I can even customize the weapons. Afdingcustom decals and what not.

Plus no metal detect. But I dont get something..

Originally guns were metal and wood because a high amount of heat is generated when you fire it. This plastic toy should melt if we actually fire a gun. So I guess it wouldnt last after shooting 2-3 rounds. Dont you think?

Yes, that and they also don't mention the chance of it fucking exploding in your hands.

Aand it might not necesarrily shoot straight.
Like in a gun the barrel is metal. So it makes the bullet go straight. In a plastic gun, it cant make the bullet go straight. The bullet may just go through the plastic barrel and tear the gun on its way..

Because plastic isn't detectable in metal detectors.
Because it's legal to own a 3D printer.
Because real firearms are hard to get, depending on who you are, and where you live.

A good pistol doesn't go for less than $1,000,- either, last time I checked. ;)

And besides, you shouldn't look at the 3D printer's price, but the price of the materials you have to get in order to print with it. I don't think that'll go much higher than $50,-. And of course a 3D printer means you can print infinite guns, not just one.

Total profit, if you ask me.
