What do you record with? My Fraps have started to lag as hell when I try to record IG play ..

I didn't record this, but anyways I use fraps, I'm sure he does aswell.
Not quite sure about your problem though, maybe your mods?

Yeah, had my game heavy modded last time I tried, might be that!
