SEVEN children were killed when a fellow pupil opened fire at a school in southern Finland overnight, hours after a video was posted on YouTube predicting a massacre there.

The school principal also died.
The gunman, who had walked through Jokela High School firing into classroom after classroom with a .22-caliber handgun, is in hospital after wounding himself in the head.
“Five boys, two girls and one adult woman were killed,” police chief Matti Tohkanen told a news conference.
He later identified the woman as the principal of the school in Tuusula municipality, a town of 35,000 some 60km from Helsinki.
The YouTube video, set to a hard-driving song called Stray Bullet, shows a still photo of a low building that appears to be Jokela High School.
The photo breaks apart to reveal a red-tinted picture of a man pointing a handgun at the camera.
Gunman worked 'systematically'
“He (the gunman) was moving systematically through the school hallways, knocking on the doors and shooting through the doors,” said Kim Kiuru, who was teaching a grade 8 class when the shooting began.
“It felt unreal, a pupil I have taught myself was running towards me, screaming, a pistol in his hand.”
Police said the gun used in the massacre was legal and registered to the gunman on October 19.
“When police arrived there was complete chaos, pupils were jumping out of the building through the windows,”inspector Timo Leppala, head of the field investigation, said .
Outside a church community building close by, a mother waited as a Red Cross bus pulled up outside.
She watched children stepping off the bus and burst into tears when, through a window, she spotted her child, unharmed.

'Jokela High School Massacre - 11/7/2007'

The YouTube video, entitled Jokela High School Massacre - 11/7/2007, was posted by a user called Sturmgeist89.
“I am prepared to fight and die for my cause,” read a posting by a user of the same name.
“I, as a natural selector, will eliminate all who I see unfit, disgraces of human race and failures of natural selection.”
“Sturmgeist” means storm spirit in German.
A user of the same name posted several videos two weeks ago, all with a theme of terrorism, massacres and genocide.
Among the videos posted include a tribute to Columbine killer Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, a tribute to US terrorist the Unabomber, a selection of scenes from Schindler's List in which Jews are tortured and killed and a post glorifying the last days of the Twin Towers.
Lyrics to various KMFDM songs, including Stray Bullet, were posted on a website maintained by Harris.
Hours after the shooting, the user's account was suspended.

Violence rare in Finland

The school serves some 500 middle and high school students.
“This is a peaceful place, nothing like this has happened and nothing like this is to be expected either,” Tuusula mayor Hannu Joensivusaid.
Despite having the world's third-largest per capita handgun ownership, violent incidents are rare at Finnish schools.
According to Finnish media, there have been four stabbings at schools since 1999.
None of these caused fatalities.
Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen said the shooting was an “extremely sad event”.
The last major attack in the country occurred in 2002 when a young man killed including himself and six others in a bomb blast at a shopping mall in Helsinki.

All videos on Youtube by Sturmgeist89 have been deleted, but I was able to watch them 4 hours ago.

Dear god
look after the familys of the ones that died in the horrible accident that happend in finland pray that they get to heaven saftly pray that u will heal the ones who are wounded in hospital and that this will be a leason to all that guns are unjust and that guns are not a toy and i pray for the person that did this that u can forgive him and help him back to sense and the right path in jesus name Amen

Actually, Tuusula is quite big place and it consists of several different "centrums". So if somebody lives in Tuusula, it means he can live anywhere withind 20 km from the scene. This crime happened in Jokela.

IMHO opinion, i wouldn't even waste anything to do with capital punishment or anything like that if this guy gets caught, just let him rot in an old pit somewhere, he is a discrace to man kind...

Material from the guys website, which was closed. Contains most of his writings and some videos. Most of it is finnish, but there are english texts aswell. They're pretty much same as in Andres links.

8 persons were shot - 5 boys, 2 girls and principal of the school, 50 years old woman. The murderer is in hospital in critical state.

And yes, I know that this isn't big event compared to what happens all around the world, but it is very rare in Finland. This was second school shooting in Finland. First one was at 1989.

Its just too sad, he also had a license to carry a gun, thats just sick...
In holland u cant just carry a gun, licenses to carry a gun in holland doesnt exist...

He was member of some hunting club, thats why he had weapons.

He shot himself to head in the end and will probably die tonight, atleast his condition is very critical.
In case he manages to survive, he'll probably be a vegetable or something like that for rest of his life.
