Need help with an assignment!

Hi!

I am working... or at least trying to on my final project for one of my courses. I need to "select and research a recent controversial issue in the media that challenged societal tolerance of free speech." I cannot seem to find anything "recent", within the last year to year and a half that really proposes anything with society tolerance of "free speech". I'll need to be able to answer these questions:

•   What is the issue and why did it cause controversy?
•   What was done to resolve the controversy?
•   If a legal case, what were the grounds for the verdict?
•   Do you agree with the outcome, or would you have liked to see a more stringent or more lenient resolution? Why?

I can obviously do the research for those but I need to find something detailed enough to find those answers, and write a substantial amount about each section.

Any ideas?! I have to have this done in like 14 hours =))

Hard to find ties to freedom of speech. That is mainly a concern of government/political rights and the forth amendment rather the first amendment :)

Couldn't you do it on Manning? He let the people know what they have to know, but now he's doing time and plenty of it.

I think I will do on the straining, and surveillance system the government has put into place that is limiting the ability of journalism by targeting their sources to prevent the spread of news.
