Title: Project: Valinor
Post by: KhornateMonkey on August 11, 2015, 05:59:42 pm
Project: Valinor (http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Valinor)

What is Project: Valinor?

Project: Valinor is the creation of a new county, with its capital Valmar (http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Valmar), connected by many islands with soon to be road, air and sea access. It is located off of the east Los Santos coast. The county will vary in scenery and island types, with some islands being big or small, some being densely populated or uninhabited and some with lower and higher classes of housing.

Each main island will attempt to have a minimum of 6 in world interiors. In world interiors are interiors within exteriors, you are able to view out of your property to the real, moving world.

How will it be introduced?

The county will be introduced in phases. There is no set deadline for the phases and they can can change at any time.

PHASE 1 - Complete

PHASE 2 - Not Complete

Just a quick update as to the progress. All the basics for the island have been completed and I am now adding the finer details. There will be lots of closed and open spaces featuring basket ball courts, parks and alley ways. Here is a preview of one of the areas.

As you can see, I have gone for a very bland and shitty look to better fit that of Idlewood, Ganton, Temple and similar areas.

Cool, do you have any plans for like a countryside island with big forests, farms etc? Or will you focus on regular citys?

Yes, islands will vary in size and type. Some will be small or large, some uninhabited or farm land

No reserves sorry.

We will not expand the current system as we're planning on getting rid of it. However, if businesses are present then in the new logistics systems they will require deliveries.

All I know of is that you can't punch or use melee weaponry off the actual GTA:SA map. Don't know any other issues.

Properties can not be set outside the San Andreas border limits, however the islands will remain within limits so that properties can be set.

Here are some images of what the first island, Tirion, will look like:

Phase 2 is underway!

This phase will extend on the first island, Tirion (ti-ri-on). A second and third island will be introduced. The second island, called Alqualondë (al-qa-londay), will be a high-medium/low wealth island. It will feature a gas station, stores, parks, a main highway for the county and much more. The third island will be a private gated residence, featuring a few mansions. No name has been decided for this island yet. This phase will also introduce the interior objects required for the in world interiors.

Here are some screenshots of the start of the highway

There's nothing wrong with the current road textures. If I use another, the roads will be glitchy. You can always use a texture mod if you don't like them that much.

As for suggestion hat i pmed Monkey ig yesterday and was told to post it here - I suggest making one of the islands look like its occupied by ilegal immigrants A ghetto look like island where gangs could operate.

Feel free to read the main post of the topic

Due to player feedback, I've decided to start from scratch. The entrance to the island is no longer as steep as it was. Further to this, rather than the first island having a "utopia" look, it will have a look much like Idlewood and surrounding areas. Stores, run down flats, houses and apartments will all feature. Furthermore, there will be open space such as car parks and basketball courts.

To be honest I don't think there is any point in continuing this, the current island that has been added is rarely ever used.

Considering the fact that Monkey is currently away with no word of him even coming back, I doubt this will be a thing.

The island would be useful when we can actually 'settle' in it with houses and businesses and please don't put ridiculous pricing on the properties afaik it was 470k for a typical idlewood house that I can buy for like 100k.

Let's not forget we can't set vehicles spawn there and damn , i've been falling twice the last time i entered (2months ago) in the ground and directly in water below the island once i went outside a house interior.. buggy and also is like made from aliens , it's a square shape , it should be a bit randomized in the corners and such.
Other than this it's a good idea to have a island exactly in that place of map.

Because it got left like this since then.

The houses and other properties shouldn't have even been set yet. The result of people unable to listen to directions unfortunately.

Sometime later this year (hopefully around May) I'll be making a return. The reasons for people falling through objects and cars not being able to spawn is not a problem with the map, but with the streamer and the way RS5 vehicles spawning script has been created (FBI HQ LS as an example) - at least that was the case when I was active.

As stated, the prices of properties are not meant to be that high and this, among many other issues, is the reason why people don't want to use the island. I still have Phase 2 saved somewhere, but I'll have to speak to Teddy when I return to see if there is any point in continuing the project.
