GTA: IV Multiplayer: IVMP and Windows 10: Fix it Guide
Last update: 30th of July, 2017 by Markk
Since W10 was released the number of help requests in this board has raised, which is a good thing for me eh
However, i believe there is still a lot of confusion on how to solve these issues and on what you should do before shouting at us to fix your problems. That's why i decided to open this thread to gather all the solutions to them.
If you think i forgot something, please PM me.
COMMON ISSUES
- My IV:MP used to work, I didn't change anything, but now it keeps crashing during loadscreen, or after login, or after I try to get into a car, or after I try to press C, etc..
Solution: Restart computer. Don't shutdown and boot again, it must be a restart (It's confirmed by multiple users as working fix).
- I can get in the server but I have a black screen, I only see the chat and HUD
Solution: Same as above, a computer restart will fix it.
- Launching IVMP sends me into single player
Solution: Make sure to run LaunchIVMP as administrator and that you have played single player at least once. Restart may be a possible fix too.
- IVMP doesn't launch at all (pay attention, this applies only if you get no other errors)
Solution: If you haven't already done it, launch SinglePlayer and see if it works, it's a must. If IVMP still doesn't launch install xLiveless (http://gtaforums.com/topic/388658-relgtaiv-xliveless/) and make sure that the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18471) and patch 1.0.7.0 (https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200145406) are properly installed in your system.
Please note that IVMP doesn't work with 1.0.8.0 patch (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=118707.0).
- I get a black screen after IVMP is launched
Solution: Find your game folder and disable DPI override on LaunchIVMP.exe
Example is in the spoiler below

- Infinite loading screen
Solution: It has been reported multiple times that using the command -availablevidmem (https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200145206-Issues-with-GTA-IV-showing-video-cards-with-over-2GB-as-under-spec) fixes the issue. Here is a guide (https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200145206-Issues-with-GTA-IV-showing-video-cards-with-over-2GB-as-under-spec) on how to use the command -availablevidmem and it's a MUST for any user who has a GPU with more than 2GB of VRAM memory.
If that is not the case for you, a reboot or more should fix things (sadly/luckily it's the first thing you should do when you are dealing with IVMP on W10.)
There is also a third commandline fix that you could try if the ones above are not working:
-availablevidmem 0.9
-percentvidmem 100

- After logging into the server my game starts to lose textures and/or i have major flickering and stuttering
Solution: You can first try to set a -memrestrict line into commandline.txt, this is how you should use it:
Please do not use any other commandlines as they may override the effects of this one. Start at the lowest number based on your texture setting (ie. try them one at a time) You can try to increase the number until you notice stuttering again.
-memrestrict 188743680 LOW TEXTURES (256M Video Cards)
-memrestrict 209715200
-memrestrict 230686720
-memrestrict 262144000 MED TEXTURES (512M Video Cards)
-memrestrict 293601280
-memrestrict 314572800
-memrestrict 629145600 HIGH TEXTURES (1Gig+ Video Cards)
-memrestrict 650117120
-memrestrict 681574400
If you still notice stuttering with the lowest number, there may be a separate issue with your system configuration.

Please note that IV:MP has its own stuttering and massive fps drop randomly due to mass crashes and different errors, best solution to that is to restart the client. If you are still getting extremely poor perfomance try with a system reboot or one of the solutions posted above.
The Fall Creators Update (https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2017/10/17/whats-new-windows-10-fall-creators-update/#lkR9OFGOmm0VY6E4.97) is coming in about 15 minutes (at 10 AM PST/5 PM GMT+0). This update brings an improved UI and some new settings, like being able to connect more properly with a phone and laptop battery life enhancements. Still, if you feel skeptical about it, don't forget to go back to the current Creators Update version (instructions found in the video below).

Anyway, before reverting, consider trying Grand Theft Auto IV and IV:MP and all other games you play usually. Note that this isn't a major update. It is a minor one, and seems to promise a lot. Windows Central rated it 4/5.
Below you can find more pieces of information in a video and a link. I hope Microsoft won't harm IV:MP too much.
