Basically I'd like to see lockpicks and /picklock or /use lockpick on a house or shops. 3 lockpicks would be able to get crafted by using 9 iron (/craft /recipes). This should also include a /skills "Robbing" level. The more level you have, the more chances you have on succeeding the break-in. You will have chances into breaking inside a house/shop, if the lockpicks break during the break-in then you will lose them. You should also be able to buy Silent or Normal Alarms from electronic-shops and install them in your house. Shops would already have alarms. If someone breaks in successfully then the alarms would go off and 911 would be called immediately (as a panic button reporting a robbery). When you manage to break in successfully you should be able to get a few items from the /storage and/or a few cash ($500-$4000) luck-based. Which means the script will choose what you will get. I believe this would get online more criminals, therefore cops would be more active. Let me know your feedback on this suggestion.

Supported! Good idea!

What happens if no one is on but one person and this person goes around to all the houses and robbing them?

Maybe add a requirement, 3 cops online minimum, 15 players (including cops). Also one player should be able to rob once a day.

Golden chance for robbers then

I like it, Supported!

Supported if Slight moderation is kept on robbers so they don't misuse the system.
-
No thank you. Be original.

There's already some scripts which need to be fixed, that should be the first priority instead of developing new.
-
Are you implying for the robbery to auto-suspect you though? Because that would be an easy way to bypass copbait and get the cops vs robbers on the server that some people want.
-
I'd be interested in seeing this implemented but then... It should be fair for everyone.
Maybe when purchasing your new property/business you get a message suggesting you should enhance your security system and tell you where you can do such.
Maybe when storing in a house you get a new option of storing your items in a safe you could buy and lock it with a code of your own? Then maybe users have a better chance with securing their items.
Maybe to break into the safe someone has to have a very high skill level and certain items that can be bought in the black market.
Maybe we could later on install security cameras and if the property has such then who breaks into will add to his notoriety..?
I like it but at the same time it wouldn't be fair to make it easy especially because... Everyone store in their properties most of their valuable items so make it a challenge ?

I'd say make cash weight too in /invent so people will be forced to put money in their homes and make robbers only able to steal a small percentage of that money. But I can't imagine that being easy scriptwise.

I'm all for the ability to store your money inside your house instead of having the bank as your only option(Still not a problem though) and yeah... If applied then the ability to steal a small portion is better.

Actually given a little more thought into this. There would be a cooldown like 1 house a day["You need to stay low, you've already robbed a house today."] and robbing a house will take like 1 min to complete, so if the house is with alarm it's up to police how quickly they respond for the robber to get suspected or get away.
The cooldown is there for people to not spam this all the time and you lose all your money at home.
I like the idea, but at the same time it feels like copbaiting with a payment.

You can't really add something that's not original. It's good that devs are considering Community Opinions and Wishes over theirs.

This whole idea requires active playerlist up to 50+ online to be implemented. Anything below that amount will just make the server a /picklock mess and people will be here complaining that they keep getting their shit stolen.
-
At this moment I don't think this is a feature we neccesarely need. Perhaps at a later state we can consider such a thing when the workload on the development team is a bit lower. Thanks for the suggestion none the less.

This is why I stopped on this. Yes, there might be such players who will rob all Fort Carson, or Las Venturas houses, but cops will not be able to catch all of them. On hold now.

Added to update todo list.

So, what would you guys think about this in MTA:SA? If MTA:SA will be a thing, that is.
This topic basically sums up these:
Adding a lockpicking system. Needing to craft the lockpicks maybe? If crafting will be implemented in MTA:SA.
Alarm system. High-end houses will already have alarms. Lower end house alarms will be obtainable by buying them in electronic shops (Optional).
Someone tries to break into your house - alarm will be triggered. Alarms will be both silent and loud.
Loud alarms: System informs you about police being called, while silent alarms just inform the police without you knowing. So you won't know if there's an alarm or not if the alarm is silent.
There will be a cooldown for the player every house/business they rob.
There will be a minimum amount of cops & online players needed in order for someone to rob a house.
Same house can't be robbed for X amount of days.
Useless suggestion? Too much stuff? Very good?
Feel free to share your opinions.

If players' houses are possible to rob, then most players won't store anything in them, and you'll have nothing to steal. :neutral2:
Needing to craft the lockpicks maybe?
They're a legal item in most countries and are quite cheap, too, so you don't usually make one yourself, unless you're a locksmith or some kind of picking enthusiast that wants custom picks.
