Title: Banked money brackets for medical bills
Post by: danigold1 on September 28, 2022, 10:06:41 pm
With the existence of stashing, and $250 being barely anything to 99% of the players, among other reasons, there isn't much incentive to doing whatever you can to stay alive, causing people to not be afraid of death at all.

I thought about having these sort of brackets according to how much money you have in your bank, and then when you die, you get billed accordingly to how much you have.
As a theoretical simple proof of concept;
$0-$10,000 banked: $250 in medical bills upon death.
$10,001-$75,000 banked: $500 in medical bills.
$75,001-$150,000 banked: $1,000 in medical bills.
$150,001-$400,000 banked: $2,500 in medical bills.

Having systems that make people value their life more are extremely important to the quality of roleplay. What are your thoughts on this idea to tackle that problem?

This is fairly similar to the system I proposed long ago. It's in the Accepted Board, so it will be implemented I guess?

The only difference is my system is based on progressive increase of hospital bills with each consequent death rather than the amount of money in bank. But whatever helps introduce more fear of death is fine with me.

Though the only drawback I see with your proposed system is more people will just stash their money in props instead of banking them,

People can easily escape by storing the money in the property rather than depositing it in the bank. Yes, they won't carry the money in hand to heal themselves or repair the car.  but I don't think they are not intelligent enough to deposit less than 10k in their bank once in a while. And it makes sense.

What may not make sense Imo, is the charges of the medical bill going higher because an individual has a higher bank balance. Idk maybe you can elaborate more on this point.

I think the 'no-return' rule already does a lot. But I agree with Huntsman, it will help players and mainly cops to value their life more than they already do.
