Yes you heard it, 300K reward to the guy that gives me the help I need.
Ok, let's start.
I have bought a brand new Graphic Card which is called ASUS AH3650 Silent, with 512 MB.
I use the CD that followedd with the graphic card to install the drivers, and ultilities.
The problem goes like this:
If I dont have any Serive Packs installed, then it does work 100%, without any sort of problems...
But if I have SP2 or 3 installed, then it get's all missed up... The screen start flickering constantly, and the computer takes about 5 mins extra to start up.
A pop-up window comes up sometimes, it shows something like "The settings to your graphic card has been ressted, your computer will now restart". That screen ups every single time I start up my com, even if I havent changed anything...
I also can't start games like San Andreas or any other games at all...
Here's a video I have uploaded, taken by phone.. It can be hard to see what that little pop-up shows on that video, but this is what it shows "No Signal Input"...
Link: http://s218.photobucket.com/albums/cc81/Sumiko40/?action=view¤t=Videoklip002.flv
I don't wanna hear such things as the graphic card is defective. It works 100% when there arent any updates for Windows XP installed...
Its thoose damn updates that f***s up everything. Don't tell me that I shall remove them, I wont, cause I need em, for work and such things.
I guess that's enough information about the problem?
Remember guys! 300K reward to the guy that gives me the right solution!
Now, let's see who the lucky guy will be.
Good Luck!
Best Regards
Custom

Try formatting your HDD, re-install XP, and put on SP2 and see if you have the same problem.

Try formatting your HDD, re-install XP, and put on SP2 and see if you have the same problem.
Tried plenny of times, same problem appears :(
-
Try to download the latest OR older drivers for your graphic card.
Scan your WHOLE PC for viruses with a GOOD anti-virus program.
Test some another graphic card on your computer.
If NOTHING helps, send the PC to the store where you bought it from for repair.
-
Try to download the latest OR older drivers for your graphic card.
There are only one for Windows XP on ASUS site, tried it, and same problem.
Tried every driver I could fine, same problem with all of em :(
-
Are you sure your motherboard and psu can handle the gfx card?
-
Is the videocard with nvidia?
-
Same what Wash said, also, I edited my post. Test them. :P
-
Try letting your windows update ALL updates, via windows update in the start menu
Also try updating your BIOS drivers
-
And if none around here was able to help you, ask also here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/165 (http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/165) I think there are some more ppl who know more about these things.
-
Are you sure your motherboard and psu can handle the gfx card?
Ofc it can when it runs without any problems, guys, its the f***ing updates that messes everything up.. My motherboard can run it for 100%.
Is the videocard with nvidia?
No idea.

Well, you shouldnt have any viruses after you format your computer ;) I also install the driver directly after installed Windows XP, so no chance for that my com can be attacked by virusses...
Try letting your windows update ALL updates, via windows update in the start menu
Also try updating your BIOS drivers
Windows Update doesnt find any updates for Hardware, I have also runned some Diagnostic tests, didnt find any updates..

Lets wait and see how it goes here :)

I know much about computers.
1) Is power supply enough powerful for it?
2) Try to check, if graphics card cooler is working correctly.
3) Check video cable from graphics card to display.
4) Is graphics card correctly in slot?
5) What motherboard you have?
I think the problem is power supply or cooler..
Try these.
-
maybe a windows vista bug , i heard some versions are really bugged, you can try installing XP or different version of Vista
-
try to uninstall [ALL drivers for u card, and then try to install this driver,
http://www.driverheaven.net/windows-xp-2k-radeon-display-drivers/167642-8-8-agp-hotfix-drivers-here.html
its a fix to ur card, i dont know, if its work, but take a try!

3) Check video cable from graphics card to display.
4) Is graphics card correctly in slot?
5) What motherboard you have?
I think the problem is power supply or cooler..
Try these.
1) The graphic card requires 350W I got a power supply of 450W
2) Yes, they works crrectly.
3) Checked, and they're plugged in as they should.
4) Yes.
5) No idea, but the old graphic card I used were AGP 8x, this is also a AGP 8x, if thats what you were going to look at?
People! Think about this, the graphic card works COMPLETELY without any problems.
When it gets into theese problems, is when I install updates for Windows...
So, everything is plugged in correctly.
I THINK it has something to do with the driver, but I have tried to reinstall many times, doesnt help :(
And btw, I am using Windows XP, thats just a theme I have installed (tried to install the drivers without it, but same problem).
-
Try installing service pack and updates before installing your graphic card
-
It's clear, ur Graphic Card CD driver are not compatible with ur windows updates.. and I think u have sp3.. (check)
Solutions:
- Install Windows Xp Sp2 if u don't have (this isn't vry vry important)
- try to reinstal/instal other Graphic Card driver (maybe catalyst 8.6 *Recommended* / or downlaod other driver from website ( NOT from Cd )
*I wait to tell me what you did

Well, just to intrude into this topic (hehe)
SP2 is actually pretty important, as it solves a number of security issues waiting to be abused by hackers/phishers etc, and lots of programs nowadays need SP2 to function.
As the previous people said, uninstall your current graphic card drivers and install the newest one from the website of your manufacturer.
Good luck ;)

you're right.. but in this case problem isn`t SP2 or SP3
Custom, u don't tell us what u have: SP2 or SP3??
(if don't work *Recommended*) before to instal drivers, use next steps:
1. download drive cleaner pro
2. run the program and clean everything
3. reboot ur pc
4. Install catalyst 8.6 or other drivers
-
Didnt work.. See picture.
Im using SP2 btw, I Have tried with SP3, same issue I get.
-
I think some driver goes to conflict with graphics driver.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=AH3650%20Series (http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=AH3650%20Series)
Uninstall all graphics driver, download and install all (utilites and drivers) from that page!

New pop-up, check picture :wow:
-
goto your bios and reset it to default options.......
-
I have a feeling, that this problem should be send to ATI.
Try this graphics card on some other computer. If the problem persists on other computer, back to shop!
-
Hey, try uninstalling the Catalyst drivers and install the OMEGA Drivers.
http://www.omegadrivers.net/
-
try to use a program ( like driver cleaner pro ) and clean ALL the graphic card drivers.. or C: format
u need to clean (100%) all graphic card drivers
and this catalyst 8.6 should go installed without problem ;)
-
Hey, try uninstalling the Catalyst drivers and install the OMEGA Drivers.
http://www.omegadrivers.net/
emm, what Catalyst??
ATI uses Catalyst thing, not ASUS.
You are messing these up, so Omega drivers don't help.
I think that's the problem!
Custom tries to install Catalyst driver, what are for ATI cards, but not for ASUS.
Am i correct?
-
New pop-up, check picture :wow:
Isn't that ASUS part of ATI Technologies? Everyone here is talking about the ATI Catalyst Drivers 8.6
-
Isn't that ASUS part of ATI Technologies?
ATI is part of AMD, Asus is own....company.
Correct me, if i am wrong.
-

I tried to download the driver from your link, and didnt work, aint compatible... Couldnt even start the installation, aint compatible.

Didnt work.. I also tried the graphic card on my dads com, it also had the same problem. We just need a driver that supports the SP.
-
The Asus AH3650 Is technically based on a ATI graphic Chip, wich needs ATI Catalyst drivers...
-
Usually, drivers are made so they are comptiable(spelling...) Service Packs.

What OP system is on your dad's comp?
-
Windows XP, completely the same as mine, also used the same Windows installation CD on his com.
And "your" link was the first I tried to download, when I got into this problem. You can guess by yourself if it worked or if it didnt?
-
It worked? Great!
Topic lock?
Kidding...
hmm... Try searching from Asus support forum..
Btw, windows is same, doesn't care from what cd installed...

Looks like this guy has almost the same problem as yours
EDIT: I found another reply to that same question, it said something about issues with a powersupply.
What's your power supply? This guy has 150 watt power supply, and some guy posted that his power supply could be too low to provide support to the graphic card.

I dont want Windows Vista.

Check if during the upgrade Windows XP 'detects' your monitor and changes settings.
It might not be the graphics card but the monitor that is set to properties it can't handle.

Hm....never heard some sort of problems...maybe some updated soft from SP2/3 crashes drivers, and they dont work properly? Try to install Vista,or other systems,or install Windows with 64 Bit,if you processor supports.
Btw,just to show a warning: TOOO Much reinstalling Windows rapes HDD hardly,so if you will try to reinstall Windows, don't do it more than 2 times a day.

I have found out the following:
On Device Manager;
When Service Pack are NOT installed does it show "PCI Device" as a question mark.
When Service Pack is installed doesnt there come anything up with "PCI Device".
Can that have anything to do with the Graphic Card driver?
-
My friend got the same problem, But after installing Vista it works without problem ... 300k please? :D
BTw try to install Vista
-
Ah i know the problem, Come on MSN
-
Vista requires too much System. I am gonna need extra RAM, and maybe Processor if my com shall run Vista, and why go spend money on a shitty OS?
-
ur money wont buy anyone's interest delete it
-

And thats why I got about 20 replies here after about 20 mins I posted this topic?
I dont need your help, so can you please stay out of this topic, as you also say in your topic "Don't want poor people in this auction"
I can also raise the reward, that's no problem, but I dont think thats gonna give me a solutuion, as you see people are trying to help me out here.
Anyway, I see a version of Catalyst "ATI Catalystâ„¢ 8.12 Display Driver for Windows XP Professional/Home Edition"...
The post date of it was on 12/10/2008, but it's the first time I see 8.12, or have you guys seen it before?
-
Not sure about it, cause i use nVidia, not Ati...

Your Card Right?
Well after reading the Features and Specifications i came across that the Card was Built for Windows VISTA, so i suggest installing Vista and see if you have the same problem if you do head to the Asus Homepage and try their Support Forum as you will get a better detailed answer. Hope this Helped.
Edit:
I just read a few Forums and people have the same problem and they'v been told to Install Vista and it'll solve it.

rusty im using exactly same gpu as your pic, on windows xp with sp3, flawless...
-
rusty im using exactly same gpu as your pic, on windows xp with sp3, flawless...
That's why I know that there are a solution for me, which doesnt require to install the shitty Vista...
Now, cDa, I guess your the only man that's possible to help me out here.
May I ask you to take some screenshots for me?
I need a Print Screen Shot, where you right click on "My Computer" and click at "Properties", take a screen of that.
Also, go in Control Panel, and Add or Remove Progams, click on the "Show updates" and take a screen shot of it. I need to know what programs there are about ATI/ASUS, and what updates you got installed for Windows.
Hmm... What more?
Ohh, try go into Catalyst settings, you know the program you get when you install the drivers from the CD... It could be great if you also can take some screenshots about thoose settings :)
Let's try with thoose screenshots, and hope they will help me :D
I hope that your all fine by letting me see thoose pictures? You don't have to, I would just like to see what I could change on my Windows, who knows, maybe its just some stupid update/driver I need
-
I see your problem.
Download DirectX.
I believe it will solve it.
Download 9 or 10 ... try them both
If that does not work, it's the driver. It cant seem to find it...
rusty im using exactly same gpu as your pic, on windows xp with sp3, flawless...

Ok Catalyst: defaul, nothing changes,
updates: turned off
my comp:look pic 1
but what wories me: tour dxdiag shows you dont have any 3d device: look screen 2
do what yihka said, download directx again...
-
btw opn case again and check if card is connected good, look at second pic, your dxdiag cant detrmine ammount of video ram...
-
What driver are you using?
up to date, last week from asus website
-
cDa, you mentioned some posts earlier you can run it perfectly fine on XP SP3.
Here comes my question:
Did you install the driver on Vista first?
It might be that the drivers do not support the current Service pack.
Ok, my suggestion if uninstalling and installing directX does not work:
cDa, post screenshots of your driver map, and how big it is.
Custom, post screenshots of your driver map, and how big it is.
You might to try to download the latest driver on the ASUS site so it will be easier to compare both maps.
I dont know where it should be located, but with Nvidia its located in a map called "Nvidia" ... So maybe its called "ATi" or something similear.
-
no yihka i have a modded disk of xp that auto installs winxp and patches it up to sp 3(no vista over/under it)
about driver map? what is that?
custom try these drivers:
Asus website (http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us)
in box to left type 3650, choose AH3650 and win XP

50% chance of phisical damage to card place it in another pc to see if it even works...
-
(http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l3/yihka/Ok.png)
Find the driver map
Open it up and make a screenshot of all files in it...
Make a screenshot of how much space it uses.
If you can do that, we can compare both driver maps and look if something is missing!
I have Nvidia video card but an aTi videro card should have a similar map?
-
um dude..
that folder nvidia creates just to unpack driver install archive before instalation, if you look inside you will just find setup for drivers...
that does nothing in thins case
His gpu shows 0 mb of video ram... its imposible, as i said phisical damage or bad instalation of card itself... his system cant "see" ammount of video ram
-
Sorry, im not that smart...
Ok, check your BIOS settings.
Check everything. Check if everything is O.K. in your BIOS.
Like... If it sees your card, that it has the right MHZ things and stuff... Or you might just reset your BIOS to see if it helps.
-
Try looking for similar problems with the ATI Radeon HD3650.
-
call computer tect support and talk to them ;) if they fix it do i get the 500k or do the tect support?

What I think the problem is; The DirectX version arent working.
Look on my dxdiag, everything is disable (cant click at enable), and see cDa's dxdiag, everything is enabled
-
Hmm....try reinstalling DirectX 9.0C
Just a thought
-
Or you could still try to ask it at www.afterdawn.com , perhaps they know more. ;)
-
Custom, i have a feeling, that i can't get it fixed before Saturday.
As cDa said, try on another slot.
Btw, DirectX 10 is ONLY for Windows Vista!
-
I sended my com to a IT Supporter today, I couldnt wait anymore.
It also seems like there wont come anything more here.
Thanks all for your help guys.

Wiered solution huh?
I have to admit; I didnt even think about that :trust:
