So I have this DCLCD monitor, dunno what size it is, and I'm having this annoying problem. A couple of days ago, my monitor decided to turn on slower than usual. This morning, it decided to go into permanent sleep mode. What I mean by this, is that my monitor's power light (in my case, blue) turns on, as if the monitor is about to be turned on, but goes off again, and repeats this process over 9000 times, refusing to let my monitor turn on. I tried re-plugging, shutting it off for a while then turning it back on, unhook the monitor from the computer, and even let my computer stay off for a while. Nothing worked; the monitor's power light keeps on blinking and it won't turn on. Any suggestions? I'm really low on cash, so buying a new monitor is my last resort...

Pwnt. :D

Made sure the cable is inserted properly? :D
-
Have you tested it with other PC?
-
well, could be that your signal cable from the PC to the screen is damaged inside..
maybe the resistors/transistors inside the screen are fried so it cant work properly and turn on because its drawing to much power or something else ;)

From my experience:
a) Signal Cable received internal damage / b) 2 Components are touching inside and are shorting it out.
FIX: a) Replace signal cable / b) Buy a new monitor.
-
Cane did you by any change bend the cable to an excessive angle?? like a 60-80 degree or higher bend? if you did you may have torn the inner cables.. a guy i know did that and had the same problems cos he bent the cable badly
-
I just tried to connect it on the laptop, and it still did the same thing. :o
And I think I MIGHT have bent the cable....
-
try take the cable and bend it slightly all over and feel for any loose spots or spaces.. well its not very precise but sometimes you can feel for breaks if theyre big enough.. but anyway you will needa buy a new cable
-
If you bend the cable, can you hear crackling or clicking coming from it?

Look above your initial post, you'll see I entertained the idea before you. I only said what you said the second time round by accident.

This happens to me all the time (I dont know if its a Windows 7 bug, or an issue with my Monitors) but
turn the computer off (push and hold power button) then unplug it.
wait 5 seconds for all power to be exhausted from the computer. plug it back in, startup again.
(Do the same for the monitor)
Monitors dont "just die" unless they are very defective, or extremely old :)
**IF that dosent work. do this.
Turn of the computer (push and hold button)
Unplug the computer
(wait 5 seconds)
open the case, and locate the BIOS Battery
(http://www.infopackets.com/graphics/cmos+battery.gif)
remove the battery. plug the computer back in(with the battery removed)
turn it on for 305 seconds, then turn it back off (Regardless what the LCD displays)
keep it plugged in, and reinsert the battery.
you might have to reconfigure the Boot Device Priority to the local HDD

how about this one

Sickness i doubt its a bios related issue :poke: its probably the screen cable which has been damaged or the pins on the signal cable could be damaged...

Well, I'm sorry your Highness, I didn't see that. My apologies, but you can't seriously think I'd copy you. It was an accident.

use logic.
a cable wouldn't pulse out a signal. but i BIOS error would. if its broken its broken, if its not it not. theres nowhere in between otherwise the cable wont carry out its signal
-
you saying he is getting it working sometimes and not working other times? cos what ive read he said its just not working... :rules:
-
the blue light on his monitor signals that tis getting a signal :) and when it goes dim (orange) there is no signal.
the computer is sending out a signal, then turning it off over and over. a cable cant do that. Firmware can (BIOS)
-
but hes got a LCD monitor, i only remember CRT doing the orange light thing... LCD just say no signal or the powerlight flashes :trust:

If my video card won't turn on while starting PC, my monitor gives only orange light, not text "no signal"... Dunno why it doesn't start sometimes, but re-boot helps to that problem :)

If you were cleaning your PC before it happened, check if the supply for your graphics card is plugged in correctly.

Surprisingly, what Sickness told me worked. Took me hell of a long time to figure what was what though T_T. Anyway, thanks a lot, you can lock the topic now :P
