Okay, all these problems are making me f**king sick.
I got my PC back, after paying £100 to get it fixed, I try to install GTA:SA and try to play it.
I double click the icon, and it looks like it is loading for around 5 seconds and nothing happens...
Any help?
-
is it GTA:SA or SA:MP thats not working ??
-
Are you on Vista or Windows 7?? if so, Try run it in a compatibility mode like "Windows 2000" or "Windows 98"
If that isnt the issue, try this
Delete the "gta_sa.set" which you can find at
My Documents >> GTA San Andreas Userfiles

Windows Vista Ultimate. I did step one, didnt work.
Looked for "gta_sa.set" and it is non existant on my pc.

oh crap ye, you havent run GTA yet so no set files will be there...
Does Single player work??
Did you install GTA SA off the DVD or w/e..
What it seems like is SAMP is corrupt somehow, try re-download and re-install SAMP and see what happens,
ive had an issue like this before, only after deleting GTA SA and SAMP then reinstalling fixed it for me..
-
Best option so far buddy, remove the whole previous San Andreas so is SA:MP (Even program files etc..) and re-install from the DVD, after that just re-install SA:MP and post results back. (Detailed please.)
-
I did that, twice. No improvement.

thats fked up.. so does the screen flash a bit and then nothing?
Have you set SAMP and GTA SA to run on the same compatibility setting aswell...
-
GTA SA doesnt even work directly after install, I only get the loading disk for 5secs then nothing.
-
Ahh youre fked then, try downloading the latest crack / no dvd crack you can get for GTA SA and see what happens... sometimes if your .exe someone is a bit damaged it doesnt run
-
I downloaded an .exe to replace it
I got an .exe from Klaus over MSN
I downloaded a no-disc crack ASWELL, no luck.
They are all not working.
Fucking hate Vista, Microsoft should be shot for this monstrosity.
-
I dont have anymore time to spend on this tonight, but are you sure your Graphics drivers are upto date and working etc, check all your drivers.
I will check tomorrow afternoon if i have time to check what could be causing this.

I really appreciate your help.
I just want to play SAMP. Its not fucking fair.

Haha.. :D
Go to Rockstar games folder.
Right click SA:MP icon, properties, compatibility tab - set to Windows Server (whatever one it is).
Do the same for the GTA:SA exe.

No.
I've had this problem before numerous times, and I've helped many people fix it.
... I didn't see you post about changing to windows server?
EDIT:
FYI, I never read other people's posts on a topic, only the actual main topic post. (In such situations, like this topic.)
-
Changing compatibility to "Windows Server 2003 or 2008" is exactly the same as changing it to "windows 2000" or "windows 97/ME" which are more stable compatibility settings which have been used and recomended many times.

GTA:SA doesnt even work on its own. SAMP isnt installed yet.

Oh, but guess what?
It didn't work.

Install SAMP. D-:
Did you change the compatibility?
-
I changed the compatability of SA, I reinstalled it, I restarted my PC, I downgraded it, I left it, I did EVERYTHING.
It still does NOTHING when I click it.
-
What did you change the compatibility to..?
Run in administrator.
-
Wash i know it didnt work, i had told him to try it earlier,
there will also be no use of installing SAMP if GTA SA on single player wont even work, theres some system issue, either hardware or software which is causing some conflicts,
Tried also running GTA SA as "Administrator" ? but i doubt it will fix it, tho its worth a try.

It will.. lol.
I can describe the problem myself, because I've had it many times.
You click on the icon, and that circular animation appears that indicates that it's 'busy' - it appears for like 1-3 seconds and vanishes. Nothing happens, right?
Mango, in what compatibility did you run it in..?
-
98/ME
Windows XP SP2
Eh, and another one. Didnt really check, I was frantically trying to fix it.
-
Bloody hell.. lol.
Change to Windows Server 2003(not sure if it's the right year)..
-
Tried & Failed.
-
Installed SA:MP yet?
-
I fail to see the point in doing so, since SP isnt working...
-
Do it..
You're eventually going to install it, aren't you..?
-
It will.. lol.

youre not the only one whose had this issue, i also have dealt with it, but his actual game has an issue, even single player wont run..
Mango, will any other games work? or is it just Ssn Andreas that wont run?
-
Only GTA doesnt work, the others seem to be fine.
Wash, how did you fix it?

Ive done everything I can think of, And almost everything Wash can think of.
I would be happy to allow people to fix it FOR me via Msn's Help thing (you can go on my PC and try to fix it)
-
Try a system recovery. Reinstall it, see what happens.

theres no way to do a system restore -.-
his PC was just formatted and rebuilt, so there will be absolutely No Restore Points available...

Maybe I'm really out there, but installing this patch might help. http://grandtheftauto.filefront.com/file/GTA_SA_Downgrader_Patch;74661
But hey, what do I know..
-
Perfect explain: You downloaded broken GTA Or your disc has scratch on it wich is covering up a FILE that you need to run GTA SA
Perfect soloving method: DOWNLOAD A GTA SA FROM TORRENT OR ANY SITE, If needed I can give you links in MSN -.-
Seskom thinks he has just got 100k richer

The disk is 100% legal, And in perfect condition.
Torrents wont work, its not the game itself, its the PC thats preventing it playing. Perhaps due to me
buying a new graphics card.
*Mango thinks Seskom wont win the $100k.*
-
hmmmm i got an solution go drop oil and your pc and burn it and make a fire party arround it :bye: you are lying too us ..
-
What's your current system specs? just interested..
-
Cba checking just now.
I contacted the shop that refurbed it and they will fix it for no additional cost.
Lets just hope everything goes to plan.
-
hopefully, but i doubt its theit error which caused it to not work, its morelikely a software issue...
-
I think they put a graphics card in that was WORSE than my last one. That would explain it alot..
Ill make sure its fixed, I wont let them scam me.
-
 they stole your graphics card...
i would kill them if they stole mine... jeez
If they fix it are you gonna pay them $100k? :poke:
-
I got the other one back, it was fried.
I just need to get a newer updated one.
-
Update your drivers, I had this also. Now it's solved.
-
So GTA is working now??
and no shit davey, ofc update drivers -.- ...
-
Its not working, but Im taking it to the shop and they said they will fix my PC so that it CAN run GTA SA or they will refund me.
-
alright, since no one fixed it here, you must now give 100k to the people at the shop :D

Graphics drivers?
-
his graphics card was/is apparently fucked.. not a driver issue,,,
-
Problem solved, as I talked to you on MSN and found out they scammed you by replacing a 16Mb graphic card..
Shop owner contacted and I think they will order a new one and will be ordered to you like Tuesday..
