weel, today Windows Update offer to dowload SP2, so i downloaded it ...
started installing, everything was fine, and now its frozen, step 1 of 3, 96% ...
dunno what to do ...
should i shut it down mannualy .... "?
It has actually happened 20 minutes ago, so quick reply would help ... :/

don't let them do those updates automatically
download SP2 manually from Microsoft site and manually install it
this should work ;)

what do you mean by "hard" way
delete that frozable update and don't let them to ask you again

i have 2 laptops, HP (vista) and ACER (win 7) ...
this problem is on HP ...
I am posting this from acer ...
anyway ...
i shut it down by pressing ON button for 5 seconds ...
tried to turn on, it showed up black screen, did a disk check, rebooted and it continued installing sp2, now 2nd step of 3 ...

i perfectly understood you
you told that you have a installing barricade ( freezing during install of an update )
i had that problem but manually dlled and installed the Service Pack and it worked

it froze up again at step 3 of 3 ...
again, manual shut down, disk check, this time turned on in safe mode, dlled the update manually ,,,
and it installed with no problems ... thanx
