Okay. Seriously, what can we do to prevent the lag? This is actually starting to annoy me. I'm not talking for myself, I bet the whole server thinks the same basically. So what can we do to prevent it?
Is it the script?
Is the the host?
Is it something else?
I mean, we gotta do something about it. This is seriously massive.
Like now, when there's approximately 120 Players online. The lag is totally terrible.
I don't even enter the server when there's like 100 people online, because I know the server will lag the shit outta the things you do ingame.
So, lets do something about it, as it is actually bothering a lot of people..

Get a better host :)

Get a better host :)
+1
But it can also depend on YOUR Internet Connection/ISP and Computer.
-
Haha, no trust me. It's not my connection..
-
It's the host/Server/scripts/WE.
It needs fixing and it needs it now.
-
Or we all can moan and maybe then the server will get better.
What do you think?

I didn't notice it at first, when everyone else talked about it, but lately I've been experiencing it too, and sometimes it's horrible. I have no idea what it's caused by though, so I'll just wait and hope for the best.
-
If I'm not wrong, the problem is on the host as everyone's ping has gone up.
If you want to help, pay for better host. There's a Donate -button on top of the forums. :)

You know hes right.
The server will lag while so many people are playing, thats a fact. David has said he is going to make sure his new scripts are streamlined to prevent this. All we can do, is wait untill thats done, no one is going to completely revamp these scripts because people say "it needs fixed now" Especially when a new set of scripts is under development.
Jesus, you all say you love argonath... now im starting to understand why everyone is calling eachover moaners.
The lag will be bad, we all know that, if you dont want to experience it, dont play when theres so many players on.
-
There is nothing we the players ourselves can do about it except to be patient and wait.
Remember new scripts are in development for the server so they take more priority in making them perfect.
But Im sure once the development and testing with the up and coming scripts is over the lag issue will be worked on. Remember the developers are human too so they can only work on so many things at a time...
So for now its just a waiting game.
:ps: If this looks like i moaning in any way im not. Just stating my opinion
Oh refer to this topic below of a similar kind too

There is an easy way to fix the lag:
Do not move :)
-
In order to check lag we are looking at a number of things.
- the processor capacity
- memory usage
- file access
At this time the processor capacity is usually well below 80%, the treshold to experience lag.
The memory usage is also far below the RAM, meaning that it does not influence the lag.
Remaining thing is file access. We have over 89.000 files in our users directory, and all of those are less than 6 months old. We are going to reduce the number of times a files is accessed by the scripts, but that needs a major rewrite and there for patience.
The current server is 3 years old, and we will son make a test to run the same scripts on another server, in order to see if it will run with less lag.
However for that we will need over 100 players, and the same amount of files.
On test server with 30 players and less player files there is zero lag, meaning the origin is not in the scripts itself.

Also easy way to fix is to lower the maximum player amount in server. Let's say to 50.

NO O.o

Let's wait and see when that test will come...

I am willing to make some major re-writes

Sounds kinda odd it isn't the scripts since the lag has been here since 4th April 2009 ( RS4 got released ).
Oh well, lets wait and see what the test results show us...
Said it like 100 times already but if it's to any help at all... server is stable with 70-80 players. 90+ causing visual lag.

It's important to understand the scale of free time developers engage on building and maintaining our community. Although, it's also important to understand how much free time community members commit towards SA:MP Argonath. The issue of lag we faced in RS3 were challenging and from my perspective never resolved. The issue was only corrected automatically (?) when RS4 was released. In the beginning, I don't believe any players noticed the lag. In time however it appeared and I distinctly remember being told repeatedly it was being investigated.
The lag issue is contributing towards the following:
- Increased moaning as players experience desync
- Increased pressure on /reports and other activities for admins
- Increased pressure on players to comprehend their surroundings often leading to mistakes
- Increased pressure on new players
CBFasi mentioned that the error may be correctable if we were to remove scripts and other additional facilities. I would stress to the senior administration to load back the last 'known good configuration settings' as playing in SA:MP Argonath is disorientating to say the least!

As Gandalf has said we are looking into this, there are subtle changes being made within scripts to try and help, but it may take a major re-write.
The problem may even be totally unrelated to the server ro scripts and might be the volume of traffic in the network, this is becoming a bigger problem the more and more that people around the world use the internet, it matters not what hub the server is on, there is a ever increasing volume of net traffic and in time it will be like a traffic jam...
Please be patiant with the lag, yes its annoying, and if you do not think we are affected, consider this...
On Sunday night when we had server loaded I left after ceremoney becuase I was getting more and more and more pissed off with myself because I could not see the solution to the lag and felt that as I did a large volume of the scripts that it was my fault... I came back later after I calmed down, but we do feel this worse than the players...
-
Can we gain assurance that this is the priority of Argonath scripters at the moment?

Some of them, I for one am useless at the moment

You're here now so you've not been completely useless at the moment ;)
The things that Gandalf summed up are about the host right?
If the leaders show that they are willing to go to a different host when substantial donations will be made I believe this would happen.
-
I noticed something, there is no lag on Bayside for example, I can play well there, and in SF. But If I go to Los Santos, is completely different, maybe we all should spread all around the map :)?

Players to help lagg do this
-New Processor at least a Dual Core(Intel Core 2 Duo - 775)(AMD Athlon II - AM3)
-Ram at least 1GB(XP) 2GB(Vista) 3GB(7)
-Video Card at least 512mb
-Internet at least 2mb(Try to get higher)
This is min what you should upgrade to Highest would be best but some cant afford that

It doesn't matter what PC you have nor connection, that's not the problem we are dealing with....

If the player PC lags the player lags on server
:ps: It says to help lag not fix read again

No.

I suggest getting a serverFFS.
Price per slot: 0.35 USD
Total price: 1688.64 USD / ~70 USD per month
Thats for 24 months, 200 players.
Think about it.

Argonath owners wouldn't change their host anyways, although it become horrible now.
-
Cant they make their own server to host game?
-

Why not?
-
I honestly think, it's not the host.
I think it's the script functions...
