Decided to see some things around on non-admin account (to prevent admins informing other players and to check if there is a place for admins abuse as well) I went on server with this nickname...
I landed in LS Airport and was immediately attacked by someone in a nice skin... If I were a noob I would not understand that my skin is a default, which means the attacker was already playing long time to know how to get the other skins from shops... A lil messed with each other on fists we successfully ran to different sides...
Kostya_Ernst started thinking how to earn some money so that he can be respected with having properties and options to buy weapons and fuel... What job could come to my mind?
Police officer or driver... But Police Officer job had advantages... First - we do know what actions we actually can do as cops, besides it, there always will be criminals, the same time I was not sure if anyone even will take my taxi and all what could be - me, a noob, wasting money on fuel driving around and waiting for clients...
This made me go to the LSPD... After some attempts to ask how could I become the police officer, I myself used the knowledges of Aragorn, as there was no any answer from server, and about option /ask I had no idea...
So UC Aragorn became be a happy freecop... Lets rock...
While driving around and being killed twice I was reading chat and got to my note that metagaming is allowed on Argonath but swearing and flame - not... This made me more clear about some moral principles of the new community I arrived in...
The first player whom I met and pull overed was Gimli on his UC nick... :lol:
UC Aragorn asked for license and told UC Gimli that he was speeding...
UC Gimli told me the real speedlimits and helped me to knew the /r command to ask fellow officers is that true that there is no speedlimit on highway...
While I was asking police, UC Gimli provided me with his license and was waiting patiently the end of the story... I apologized and gave him back his driving license...
He welcomed me to Argonath and happily wished to each other a "nice day", we went both to our own directions...
On the next day we found out who was who... :lol:
As Las Venturas (where i was heading) met me with the empty evil streets, feeling uncomfortable and using Aragorn's knowledges, I decided to check San Fierro... Where met two criminals...
One of them, Marco_Diaz, was hunting a car with Gvardia guys, met me on my side of the road, did not react on siren (noob Kostya had no idea about megaphone), was suspected by me for wreckless driving and had been chased... He was shot when wounded and with no car (I decided not to chase him to SF airport and just blocked the road from there) fell down into water... There he was shot...
Immediately my money screen started moving and I found out that I got 100$ (yeah, it is why cops are called money hungry - because they earn some shitty 100$ for 1 hour) in my cash... It also provided me info, that if I would jail him, I would earn 500$...
The next whom I pull over was a criminal Shar... He said he does not want problems with the Law and decided to give up... What to do with him now? Criminal Shar helped me to pass the procedure of arrest, so I learned the command /cuff... After that I decided to give him a ride to the nearest car... And got amazed that he paid me another 100$ for bringing him to the car...
Kostya was happy!!!... Now after 2 hours he had already 700$!!!...
But that is not all for his day... From here starts the real fun...
Some of you probably read the logs in Gvardia topic, provided by Gandalf...
Kostya_Ernst arrives to the Gvardia HQ... As usually (Aragorn) a lot of guys there...
I parked the car and introduced myself... As a new officer in this city who decided to check the area and to talk to its citizens...
Here appears Mike Gvardia who was wanted...
Notification to him did not bring a result... After several minutes of talking Mike Gvardia suddenly informs me that he does not know English... And then started the best... When I asked him "Mike give up", I immediately was accused in being Metagamer and pointed that Mike Gvardia will roleplay only with roleplayers...
What zomg roleplayer Mike meant by that? Any kinds of thinking confused Kostya/UC Aragorn (Us both)...
I tried to analyze the real zomg roleplay variation:
1. Apparently criminal Mike thought that lack of English gives him rights not to be arrested...
2. Officer Ernst must run to the police radio requesting for interpretor and asking criminal Mike to wait him there...
3. Officer Ernst should ask the other Gvardia people who were dealing drugs under his, officer Ernst, nose to provide him with the translation...
"Comrads, would you be so kind as to stop for a while your drug dealing and help me to explain the man in white shirt and dark pants who is walking in front of me, not you sir, that he is under arrest and should come with me to the police department?"
4. Officer Ernst should request the paramedic to check Mike Gvardia on mental problems, as the guy who talked English suddenly forgot the language...
That almost exploded my head... The same time Mike Gvardia disappeared from the scene, and I had to follow him... Following him brought me back to Gvardia HQ... I went out of the car and asked again to give up... The same time I was attacked by well-known Marco_Diaz, who drowned in the beginning of this fantastic motion topic... When I saw that carkilling took constant attempt, I suspected Marco_Diaz...
Marco_Diaz was not agree and told me to unsuspect him... I said "No" and the same time was nicely shot by Mike Gvardia...
As I was shot and had to spawn in LS Airport again I decided to patrol the nearest to LSPD areas...
This Brought me into the scene of crime... The driver [HOD]Lanonymus rammed the biker and escaped from the scene of crime... He was followed by me and even pull over on my sirens... His face was very angry... I answered on questions (?) that he was reckless driving and hit the biker...
I got a great roleplay answer: "f**king Liar"... [HOD]Lanonymus closed the window of the car and went away... He could not be suspected by me, as was not near... So I had to follow him and looked for his number plate around...
I found him near Pizza shop... His Car stopped right opposite mine... I went out and came to him... Once again I said the reason and asked for license... Ready for the roleplay??? Ok, readers, follow me...
[HOD]Lanonymus said that he already died (made /kill according to his own words) and cannot be suspected already... His words [HOD]Lanonymus strong-ed by friendly wink... But annoying officer again asked for license to be sure the man will understand that reckless driving is not good in this city and that he made a biker go to hospital...
[HOD]Lanonymus (15) : man do you want a reason to su me?
Kostya_Ernst (135) : I have a reason sir
Kostya_Ernst (135) : license please
After this words Officer Kostya was killed...
Sigh... Kostya Ernst again respawned in Airport and went on duty... While talking to someone his car just disappeared... Kostya requested pickup from fellow officers via police radio and got a nice answer:
Officer Tickle: /taxi
Good that there was other officer who arrived to pick up me and brought to the LSPD parking...
For now its all from first part of the day of newbie Kostya_Ernst...
With this I would like to provide my own opinion... Those who will continue the shit on freecops and cops as a non roleplayers, will get a strict answer from me, even can lead to the ban...
I can understand there is someone deathmatching under cops skin, but to shit the whole group of ARPD I will not allow... And to make the equal sign like all ARPD are dmers, money hungry, etc... There is no possibility of cop to become a millionaire from cops work, unless he works his ass off, so respect his ambitions to be respected...
And one more... For all my "life" on server, Kostya Ernst did not get any admin abuse on him...

I wish not everyone was like this, although there are some genuine players out there who really do care like Shar who decided to help you. This really frustrates me :neutral:

Oh, I met Kostya once.
Aragorn, sometimes you're mad because some freecops come and do just /su. You dont want to teach them, you want them to burn into hell (joke). But seriosly, you can't teach someone when you're mad. So, when I met you, I was rude (As I remember) too.
Because some freecops was trying to abuse me all day long. That's the reason. As you can see, the only job on Argonath is cop.
Because medics are not needed, firemans have their mission not very often, so every new player trying to get on cop duty. While i9 was here, new players became gangsters sometimes, but now...
So, that's the reason why some people saying "moneyhungrey cops", because new players want to earn some money, as you wanted, but they sometimes dont know rules of server and rules of ARPD. But, if they want to earn money and dont know what this server about...why the want to earn money? For what?

Well, it's sad to see that people refused to roleplay with you, Each of them has their own opinions or prefers about who to roleplay with.. There are 2 categories... Those who are not afraid of loosing, those who roleplay with everybody without carying for his/her /whenmade, and these who only Roleplay with regulars.
I don't see many people take new players with them and show them the places just like you used to see in old times.. I last seen this being done by Justin Djay around a week ago..
Anyways.. I've already done something sort of this on my non admin account also.. did not end in a good result due to the fact the most people don't respect or care for new players.. it's a sad thing because if you think about it, Argonath needs to support new players for them to stay.. nobody found it ready yea I know.. we all had to work for what we have now, but help new players make a good begin :) be their friend! show them the place :D

While we're on this topic I might just say something..
For the past month, my non admin account has been in Gulucan, under the name rmliDlioe, which is an anagram for Dillimore :)
And I got some interesting stuff to report...
If you have that Gulucan tag on - you are automatically the scum of the server. Everyone hates you, without even knowing you. The tag is like a stain on a carpet in a store; you don't know how good the carpet is, but you see the stain, and automatically you despise of it and hate it.
Internally, I only got into a few RPs, and I have to say guys, they were amazing RPs! These Gulucan guys really do know how to pull off some good RP, yet all everyone sees (or wants to see) is them DMing and stuff...
Yes there is a few that spoil it for the rest - they're banned now, you see that in Unban Requests...
Today I changed my non admin accounts name, I left Gulucan, and I leave it with the hope that you will all treat them with respect as an individual, and not judge them based on their group before you even know them...

I really did pull the whole 'noob' image off, if I may say so myself. Most of the things I said was relating to DM.

Not if you take that all admins has been non-admin players...

I think after laughing you should understand that this is how a new player experiences the server... so think on how you can make it better for new guys.
Stop mistrusting anyone you do not know. So what if you get killed a few times more... in return you will find new friends and make new interesting play.
What we notice is that while there are a number of new players who start punching and need correction, also a number of guys will know RP and just try to find their way around the server... do not be hard to them.

This is an eye opener even for myself who has been her for over a year. Argonath is a great server, but there are a few flaws that cause things like this to happen. Most of the player here are great people, they just forget that the person they are talking to is another person behind a computer screen. New Players are what keep the server growing, without them we would go no where.
Had Aragorn's UC account been an actual player coming to the server, he may have been turned off and never come back. Who knows, he could have been a great player who contributed to the server and maybe would become an admin. Who knows.

And if you were reading the Gvardia topic, you may have also seen that Mike was kicked as a result from this. Take this as a notice to all of you that the leadership of Gvardia will not intentionally let anyone get away with anything like that.

Aragorn, on behalf of the caring members of SA:MP, I apologize to you for your terrible experience. If only I could apologize to other new players (not saying you're new HURR) who had to go through this shit, because this is just ridiculous. And this isn't even the whole story of his day!
I believe your experience may work its way to being constructive criticism, Aragorn, in a way. Based on this, many of us may be willing to improve our behavior. Maybe people will just not give a shit. Maybe people will practice false empathy and be assholes...
This just goes to show us. Don't be prejudicial towards new players.

Shar is good player. I 'think' I am friendly to newbies like he is but only when they are not rude and more polite. Also friendly, other then that I would probably not help you with anything and not even give some extra tips which I normally do.

Kostya Ernst did not make any shot at people who were willing to cooperate with the police or were not showing aggression even with the guns in their hands...

The problem, guys, is NOT in newbie... The problem is that even the high standard roleplayer will be on server, part of you will just deathmatch him or shit...
I did not get what GiacJr was telling... As I understood, GiacJr was playing as a noob, means he was shitting and deathmatching... If I will know that he or any other admins are doing the same - you, guys, will leave the admins team faster then the moon will pass the earth from other side... And I hope my logic here is clear...
I did not play on non-admin account for witch hunting... I made researches and shared the experience with you to see the server from the other side... Because its already clear - if admin is near, all behave great and friendly... That is why I did not annoy people with deathmatch and shit... I made only one small provoke (hit-n-run), but it finished the same time as it started, cos both sides were not willing to fight each other anyways...

Wich should be the opposite, more should be demanded from the regular.
If people would demand from example an new guy in the hospital to make an brain surgery, how would that go?
What does the new guy need to be able to make an brain surgery? Training and help, not impossible demands the new player cannot tell because he does not contain that knowledge.

English? Find an translator then. It's better to be kind than to send them off because they do not know english. There are many other players on the server who might happen to speak the new dude's language.
Even if the player does not know english, does not mean he should be ignored and left on his own, that's just rude.

I've been onto several other roleplaying servers and i wont tell any of those due to our rules, but onto the other servers they are nicely being told how to roleplay by the more experiended players, i believe we should make it something alike that, be nice against new players. Theres no reasons to immediatly open fire, even if they do. Attempt to roleplay even if they are attacking you. I'll try my best to do that into the future as i hope new players will get more known to Argonaths way of roleplaying.

Really? I tested other roleplay servers also... Minimum, what I experienced - no any help or even a possibility to get a help...
And as far as I could see - they even ban for saying "Hello" in main chat... :hah:
Others just disallow the main chat and you experience the boredom driving around, seeing nobody and being confused with the amount of players the server shows, when around you - no any soul and only 20 players silently sit at Pershing Square...

I don't know wich other servers you have visited, but the ones I have been to the experience have been majorly negative. First, an 5 minute tutorial that you can't skip (those fuckers even disabled /q).
When I finnaly got past the boring part (did not even read half of it) and got to play, I could not:
Enter cars.
Speak.
Have fun.
I could do one thing, run around.
Of all the RolePlay servers on sa:mp, Argonath RPG is the one with the most freedom and most unique.
We had something akin to this on mta:vc generation. The thing you are seeking, aka Very nice people. Problem is that when Argonath RPG expanded onto SA:MP, with it came several people from other servers, who could not see the difference between owner and player, and therefor. Tried to impose shitty dumb rules onto the official rule paper.
With SA:MP, Argonath got an huge influx of players, but with it also came shitty things and rotten eggs.

Luckily, the seem to have failed to turn Argonath into "another RL-RPG server", however. They succseed in one thing, spreading IC and OOC.
Why many old players (including myself) bash at the sa:Mp community sometimes, or mention the old times. Is because Argonath did not contain bullshit. no OOC IC, NO ZOMG RL RP, Every single player was very nice. No one was craving money like an sponge sucking water. Sure mta:vc had it's problems in community, but it was far less than sa:Mp have now.
So, what can we do about the problems?

Now, I cannot deny IC OOC because it's not im my right to forbid it, however. When you guys force or "This is essential for roleplaying" IC OOC at an new player, you are just doing it wRONg. Stop copy-cat other servers. IF you are helping an new player. Do not tell anything about OOC IC or such bullshit unless they ask specifically about it. And even if you should happen to teach it, do not say it's an requriement to Roleplay on Argonath, because that's just stupid and you are effectivly playing an owner when you are not one of the owners.

About the little UC trip you had, well that's a common thing in Argonath.
The /hduty idea and its implementation helped a lot but not many players offer new comers to type /ask.They just do not encourage them enough. I changed my name once because I wanted to see if there is any hope to stay on SA:MP. I guess I was wrong, because I asked several times in main chat "Hi Im new can you help" and I got no response than "stop spamming".The cream on top is that many players as said before, call you a meta gamer, while there is no such rule listed anywhere and does not imply.Same as powergaming. They make a melodrama when you scroll to obtain a weapon and yell with capitals "OMG pulled combat out of ass, rofl NON Rper". One point I realized is that our administration has big patience, understanding and some players (even regulars) abuse it.

Now what's wrong with helping someone to enjoy that fun aswell?
- Does he feel welcome if you do? Yes, probably
- Do you sleep better when you do? Maybe, unsure bout that.
- Is it that hard to help someone ? Takes maybe what? 10 minutes?
=> Conclusion : If everybody helped One newcommer a day, only ONE, the problem would be solved. Taking into acount that in a timeframe of one day, more than 100 regulars show up to play and to have fun, this wouldn't be any problem anymore.
As for the point which somebody said, about 'some newcommers you can't teach cause they don't want to be learned' I can kinda understand the point which is made here. Indeed some newcommers are not your language, not listening, not interested, dming, shitting on everyone,...
My view?
- not your language? I bet someone in the server speaks the language he speaks, otherwise, ask if he knows any other language :)
- not listening ? /area them and ask in local chat, or better yet, try in mainchat / pm :) also mention to send you one back they have to do /pm (urid) text
- dming ? Report to us admins and we will attempt to cool them down
- Shitting on everybody ? Same as above
Yet my opinion is, there is a newcommer in each and everybody here. Reasons ?
- everybody was new once, everybody knows what it's like.

Very interesting, I like the statistics, only sometimes they show the other side as well.Lots of new comers tend to hack after some time(or the same day they register), and its our fault at one hand.They see that the monetary system has a great influence here, and that is the key reason why we have mostly weapon/armor/money hacks.

While we're on this topic I might just say something..
For the past month, my non admin account has been in Gulucan, under the name rmliDlioe, which is an anagram for Dillimore :)
And I got some interesting stuff to report...
If you have that Gulucan tag on - you are automatically the scum of the server. Everyone hates you, without even knowing you. The tag is like a stain on a carpet in a store; you don't know how good the carpet is, but you see the stain, and automatically you despise of it and hate it.
Maybe some reasons alot of people think gulucan are Dmer's is how they display themself or what they say...and am very disapointed to find out that "rmliDiloe_gulucan" was our once-awesome captain giacjr, i mean you practically were dming on police duty and was provoking us so that we could shoot you, i do not know reason you went UC on that account, maybe to find SAPD corruption or to find how veterans treat new players....
but if its one of the reason's then you would have fulfiled your objective because you made it hard not to be treated such way..i had these screenshot taken for other purposes, but here it goes...

I don't know wich other servers you have visited, but the ones I have been to the experience have been majorly negative. First, an 5 minute tutorial that you can't skip (those f**kers even disabled /q).
When I finnaly got past the boring part (did not even read half of it) and got to play, I could not:
Enter cars.
Speak.
Have fun.
I could do one thing, run around.
Of all the RolePlay servers on sa:mp, Argonath RPG is the one with the most freedom and most unique.
We had something akin to this on mta:vc generation. The thing you are seeking, aka Very nice people. Problem is that when Argonath RPG expanded onto SA:MP, with it came several people from other servers, who could not see the difference between owner and player, and therefor. Tried to impose shitty dumb rules onto the official rule paper.
With SA:MP, Argonath got an huge influx of players, but with it also came shitty things and rotten eggs.

Internally, I only got into a few RPs, and I have to say guys, they were amazing RPs! These Gulucan guys really do know how to pull off some good RP, yet all everyone sees (or wants to see) is them DMing and stuff...

What's so special? That's what all admins do on UC accounts.. Some even get banned. :rules:

I would love to see your point of view as a new player on it too since I can't do the same, being that everyone knows I lead ARFD, so I can't get an unbiased view as a new player in the scripted job field. It would be very helpful do I can figure out where things can be improved. :)

I got my one and only ban because a UC admin was trying to carkill me, so I tried to roleplay by aiming a deagle at the guy(i used /me commands etc) and he kept attempting to carkill so I killed the guy, minute later...banned for DM. I was sad, considering I am like a stickler to the rules, ask Gvardia members. So when I read this from JDC, even though it is old, I couldn't help but break a laugh at it. Some people honestly should read the first post and look through this, maybe get an idea of what its like to be a new player in this server.

2 years passed and i have just seen this thread now. Well that was 2 years ago. I used to be a newbie too at that time. 2 years ago was exactly when i joined argonath. (Around that)
Now that i am experienced in argonath, i wouldn't obviously take the same attitude. As i have learnt a lot since then.

I agree...and it should be all servers, not just SA:MP. A lot of things need addressing to stop some of the legible concerns of those moaning about them so they can be resolved. Some complaints aren't always just because they can't get their way. Some people just honestly want to fix problems they run across. Given Argo's past history of doing all it can to constantly improve a player's fun here, I don't see why this can't be done again this year in order to continue improving where the community can. :)
