Tomorrow, (the 15Th), around 20:00 CET, we will be testing the newest version of MTA 0.5, officially known as MTA 0.5r2, before it's release, but we need testers to be there so we can max out the server for stress tests. Anyone that has GTA III, GTA VC, and can play MTA 0.5 is welcome to join. Please be aware that users from other servers will also be there, so anyone picking fights over this will be immediately banned from testing. I will announce the IP here tomorrow, as will Towncivilian on the #mtavc channel on GTANet's IRC server, among other places. Anyone that has questions can contact me on MSN.

More in likely, I can't make it. That's 2PM for me, and I've got things to do tomorrow.

The purpose of this test is mainly to check for any potential sync regressions (i.e. comparing the state of sync in 0.5r2 to that of stock 0.5; the two should be identical, with 0.5r2 theoretically having less desynchronization). Most of the other features have already been thoroughly tested. Both GTA3 and VC will be tested, but VC DM will require the most testing time.
If you want to see what's new in 0.5r2, see here:

Lol I'm a bit amazed myself, but not too much. I'm registered on his too. This rivalry shall one day end. The players are slowly coming together...
-
Sounds good, I'll see if I can make it.
-
I'll try come.

Pure awesomeness.
I want to throw the words "Take that!" into the face of those people who have said MTAVC wont be updated.
-
A release is pretty much a guarantee at this point, unless there are some significant unforeseen issues that crop up in testing that I wouldn't be able to fix within a week or so. None of the MTA team objects to releasing an update independently, so like I said there's no stopping it now.
Thanks for the overwhelming response, guys! Please have GTA3 and/or VC (whichever one(s) you have) installed before the testing time so things can start smoothly.

Get out of this topic if you're going to flame and try to change the subject.
For one, Jenn and I were joking, we are friends.
For two, I NEVER disrespect women.
And for three, if you felt it was offensive, report me. Don't flame me. Read the forum rules.

Thanks everybody who helped test! We found a few issues in GTA3:MTA in ShoreSide Vale and MTA:VC Deathmatch, but aside from that, everything went well! Argo and Anke players even got along and had alot of fun!
Bugs found:
GTA3:MTA SSV - Carjacking results in a crash for the jacked user.
GTA3:MTA SSV - Game-Mode Mini-Games are not correctly syncing between players.
MTA:VC DM - Some players had issues with a crash during game loading on Windows 7
MTA:VC DM - Spawning as a Sailor then Robber (for example) retains M4 and grenades
MTA:VC DM - Grenades/molotovs firing distances is not synced, will have to fix weapon.dat to retain maximum distance but also keep jumping
MTA:VC DM - Infinite grenades/molotovs glitch (which was present in 0.5 too)
A few others were later found during gameplay on the Argonath server for testing. They have been listed on the MTA topic.

I believe getting on a Motorbike as passenger Crashed the Game as well?
Would want confirmation from someone else about this though of course.

You should've read the MOTD :)
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE GOING INGAME!
Reporting issues:
Please report any bugs, crashes, and issues in this thread: http://forum.mtasa.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=19985 (http://forum.mtasa.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=19985)
Known issues:
Motorcycle crashes and other issues (passenger w/ no driver, certain jacking instances, passenger being able to "drive" the bike) - underlying SCM issues must be fixed before being able to fix these properly. Please don't report these.
Needs testing:
Alt-tabbing (pause after alt-tab is disabled, but this seems to slow performance down to 3-4 FPS for me [Towncivilian]) - if this occurs to anybody, please report!
Synchronization - we're looking for potential regressions. Basically, compare the sync between 0.5 and 0.5r2. They should be identical. Desync caused by the user is theoretically lower in 0.5r2 due to some memory patches (i.e. game continues to execute in pause menu), but the actual "baseline" for desync due to MTA's inefficiencies (if such can be measured) should remain the same.
Vice City Stunt gamemode - this was sort of an afterthought for me and I shoved working bits from DM into Stunt, did a quick test and if all seemed to work I left it at that, not much Stunt-specific work was done. I think a 15-25 minute test of Stunt should suffice.
GTA3 SSV: Since this is the most complex GTA3:MTA gamemode, this requires the most testing. Nothing too specific to test, though, just try out gamemodes.
Otherwise, I think that's about it, but then again I'm writing this MOTD on an hour of sleep in the past two days, so uhh...
-
Thanks for testing, everybody! It went well and we found a few rather critical issues that wouldn't have cropped up in small-scale tests.
