All is in the title ^^
For now, cops have to buy their own gas, and the problem so far is that players ("criminals") rarely obey the pull over order. So a chase beggins. And as there is (for now), no car health, that means that chases can be reaaaaaaally long. So if you were patrolling arround for 10 minutes before the chase started, that means you start it with half a tank, as you dont often go to the station due to the price...
(I don't know if you understand what I mean, I have difficulties to explain what I really mean...)
-
I also feel that Cops, FBI, Noose, etc. Should get free gas. They work hard and well to catch criminals and 1 or 2k for catching them is just not enough... A cop could want his own car or something...he doesnt want to pay for gas for a car hes not going to use for his whole "life" here at argonath...

To prevent abuse, I would recommend this for emergency vehicles themselves only. Since the vehicles would be restricted to the skins anyway, restricting the "free gas" script to the use of these vehicles would prevent people from being able to go on duty just to fill up their cars, hence eliminating that chance for abuse. I believe this is also how SA:MP has it set up as well.
-
I like this idea.
It would promote greater salaries rate among new-coming officers and officers in general and good chases.
Restricted for emergency vehicles only, of course.

Actually, filling up his car for free is already possible as a mechanic. Moreover, the mechanic can fillup his car anywhere (I mean no obligation to be at a gas station).
So those who would go on police/emergency duty just to fillup their car for free would be dumb

If all emergency vehicles get it, and it's restricted by vehicles instead of skins as I said, then this would be absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend implementing this with it though:

...Otherwise you'll have people abusing the fire vehicles for free gas since they aren't restricted yet.

Wait, not even at a gas station? Why does that even exist?!?
-
if there will be free fuel for cops so I believe it would be fair for the rest of state duties to make equal rights when talking about free fuel, because making it to emergency only it becomes elite duties. I wouldn't suggest to separate state duties to groups coz no one will have interest to RP on those jobs and will choose emergency only.
I'm wondering, when we will have cars with tires that you can shoot through? :)

Indigo

I think they should be able to get their fuel cheaper, but not entirely free..

Have you reported the bug? At least, you shouldn't be able to fill up a car fully. Just like.. 10 per cent maybe?

That is solely dependable on the IV:MP development (since it's the vehicle HP bug).
-
No I didn't report it as a bug, as far as I thought that was a part of mechanic's job advantage.
-
Sorry for bump, but how about cops would be able to refuel for free at cop headquarters and/or booths? On gas stations, they would still have to pay with their money.. getting fuel for free from gas stations sounds...just no.
And if you have problem with losing the fuel from patrolling, stay in one place 24/7 and start the engine only when you really need to. You won't be able to chase every criminal, deal with it :P
-
I'd prefer a very low fuel cost but not free . . . instead of 15$ per 10% we could pay 4$ . . . ?

The FBI need to Patrol...They cant wait for a criminal...

Actually, I believe that IRL FBI is only dispatched within situations noticed by patrolling regular cops. But I'm not too experienced about cops, so I'll drop the argument.
And the only realistic and non-overpowered solution is free refueling from police station if you ask me - just like you have free guns, just you will have free fuel from your police station. Discount doesn't make ANY sense, as well as free fuel from gas stations.

That is correct, but i meant IG :P

Ah well I understand :P
I still think you should only get free fuel from police stations, though. Eventually some kind of 'fake money' that you would get on-duty that could be used only for fuel and changes to 0$ after you go off-duty.
-
Free, no.
A reduced fee maybe.
I think that on SA:MP that using a police vehicle at one of the police pumps, fuel is $5 not $10, but don't count me on it.
-
I'm not sure if that's the exact amount, but yes, police already get discounted fuel at the PD's.
I don't see why you guys are complaining about this. You get paid hundreds or thousands of dollars per kill and arrest, and you're worried about spending a little money on gas? You have to spend money to make money boys and girls! No other RP group gets discounted gas, let alone a pump in the station! Not even us Firefighters! ;)

Actually I think you're not enough active on server to comment this ;). Jailing suspects is barely possible sometimes . . . taking them down is simplier but not easy due to car HP bug . . in the future both will be easier.

1. Excuse me, but I am active, and regardless of my activity, I have all the right to comment on it.
2. Why should cops get free fuel when no one else does? They make money for arresting suspects, so they should have to pay for fuel just like everyone else. Suspects don't get it for free, so why should cops have an advantage? If officers run out of fuel during a pursuit, that is their fault for not filling up before patrolling, and continuing to manage their fuel level before, during, and after pursuits and patrols.

You have all rights to post and comment here, who didn't say so?? No need to go mad for such things . . . acutally I just said I don't see you in game enough to know how we have to manage chases at the moment . . (maybe I'm wrong cause I don't know you exact name ingame but anyway it wasn't an offence or things like that :))
In SA:MP (if in the meanwhile they didn't change it) normal fuel is 10$ and at the police station it's 2$. It's not free but the price is very low and it is to encourage patrols. Why shouldn't we do it when our chases are endless??

Fuel is $2 over there.

SugarD has a point. If cops get discounted/free fuel why shouldnt other government organizations get it ? Like medics, FBI, firefighters etc. I think it would be right thing to compensate the fuel cost. Its done irl too when the job requires to drive alot. I think when cops get then other government organizations that require using a car in order to get the job done should get that discount as well.

Totally agreed. I was first thinking about cops because they have to drive a lot (patrols), when medics, for example, should just drive when they are called, but that sounds fair enough. If cops get discounted gas, other governement jobs should get it aswell.

SugarD...this is the first thing, I have ever agreed with you about. This, is a legendary moment. Seriously.

lol, i was going to open a topic for that.
The reason cops should get free gas ONLY for Patrol cars (ofc not other cars), is that cop onduty shouldnt pay for work car, he uses it for pursuits,
there is not reason to give the car, but not the gas, LCPD should provide all needs for cops to pursuit a suspect, Weapons, a car, so why not gas?

That could be a possibility, but then you'll definitely want to make sure it stays restricted to Law Enforcement-only vehicles, as well as other Emergency Services having access to this for their Emergency Service vehicles only while on duty.

Hi Fellas,
The fuel system has been altered now so that the fuel lasts a lot longer.
There doesn't appear to be the need now for fuel to be cheaper.
Thanks for the idea!
