Title: London Meet-up Idea?
Post by: Miami on August 03, 2011, 05:49:07 am: Just throwing out a suggestion/idea... might be a little far fetched but, hey! No harm in throwing out an idea! :)

I'm just wondering who lives in or around London, England and would be up for a meet-up and a day out in central London?
Obviously, further details can't be discussed here as this is an open forum. So for now, I'm throwing out the idea to see what people think then we can all add each other on MSN or Skype to go into more detail.

Thoughts?

We'll be doing more than just 'coffee and donuts' as you say. :P It'll be a day out.. so, we'll see the sights, maybe go on the London Eye. It'll be a proper little exploration. :D

It can happen on a weekend as I think this would be the best idea. But we should also avoid Sundays as places close early.

So either Saturday the 3rd, 10th or 17th? I really don't mind, so if you guys suggest a date and then we could all agree on it. :)

If we be clever about the planning and don't waste money, then the day out in London wouldn't actually cost all that much at all. In fact, most of the money will probably go to the travel costs. But the great thing about central London is that all famous locations and sights are all within walking distance so we wouldn't actually need to spend even a penny on travel. :razz:

In terms of food, I don't know about you guys but we don't need an amazing 5 star resturant. :D

Emre, wait aren't you living in Germany? I mean if your residency is officially Germany, then I think you do not need any visas to move around in EU states.

I lived their for only 4 years and i know the system perfectly fine... how can you not know a system thats so brilliantly well run that getting lost = impossible.

For our standards it's shit.. but when you compare our rail service (yes, let's ignore the shitty bus service and the shitty tube service for now) to other countries, it's not actually all that bad. :D The organisation and planning is great.. but what brings it ALL down is the delays and somewhat half-arsed service. But that's the people, not the train companies in all.

BUT, I can get tickets for my "family" but I do not have a partner nor kids so I am not sure if they would believe me in that. I can pretend I am gay with two guys tho although they will be like "WTF" on the phone I guess.

Dawg on long distance try to find little stores what sell day tickets such as "Kruidvat, Blokker or Hema (even Jumbo now)". You get for around 15 till 20 euro's a day ticket.

1. You pay the half.
2. You can go through the whole Netherlands (so going there and go back just for that price)

But meh, something you know now :P

With Ryan Air it aparently costs 30 Euros maximum from Norway to London then back for David LOL (4 euros for a single ticket o___O)

We're tempted to say that we're going to organise a "smaller" meeting in September with a provisional date of Saturday 17th.
We'll then spend more time on a "bigger" meeting for people who are literally traveling from far countries and this meeting could happen anytime from December to next year. :D

So for all people who can make Saturday 17th of September, please say. :)
