I was wondering why not make a few types of kevlar, and let the ammunation owners stock on them (or other business?) as well?
Types of kevlar:
Civilian grade (25 armour, price: low)
Police grade (50 armour, price: medium)
Special unit grade (75 armour, price: high)
Military grade (100 armour, price: extreme)
Civilian grade would be buyable in ammunations/other businesses. Police grade would be what cops get after going on-duty, and it would be buyable from ammus as well. Special unit is what FBI gets, buyable from Phills Place, and Military is what SWAT would get - buyable from Phills Place as well.

oh and in order to explain for ppl who lack common sense (like me e_e) this is gonna work like:
/c buykevlar 1
*You bought civilian-grade kevlar, you gain 25 armour points*
/c buykevlar 1
*You bought civilian-grade kevlar, you gain 25 armour points*
the script however, takes down 100 kevlar first, then adds 25 kevlar. So if let's say, you buy Special unit grade armour, get 75 armour, then buy civilian-grade, the armour level warps back to 25 instead of 100. the effect doesnt 'stack up'

It would be awesome if you can rob the army base for some heavy armor to store in your HQ.

You could rob the bank and then go and rob the army base for good measure. (Anyways, Cops will be alerted like a normal bank robbery, so ye.)

Buyable kevlars: Been considered, not sure if want
Police will still receive free kevlars. The FBI will not receive kevlars (unless bought) as it would blow their cover, just as in 1.9.

Quite a cool idea, and would make it more of something to find stockable in shops.
Just depends if it's necessary. :)

We still need to figure out what's needed and what's not, even if this multiplayer is a one big bug...

just saying, dude. IMO armour is big enough part of gameplay to keep it, I don't see why would we delete them just cause of the no-kill-showed bug, since this isnt TDM server.

I never found out the true reason of even giving criminal the opportunity of seeing how many cops he killed... I myself couldn't care less if the kill is counted or not.. And anyways, you usually only shoot cops with kevlars anyways so it wouldn't change nothing to remove them from players.

I agree with you there. Having a number would really only promote deathmatching between cops and criminals because players would compete to see who could kill more, which defeats the whole purpose of RP in the server :P

25 or 50 armour is like nothing, to me kevlar is meant to give players an additional chance to survive close-range stubby shot, no one would be likely to purchase "skinny" armours.
Only way I see this being implemented is to create an elite/military 100+ armour available in certain hideouts like Phil's Place, 8Ball... whatever but has to be rare.

Why would users use armor that's more than the full amount? That's just giving an unfair advantage to users.

Using normal armour seems to be unfair already, I see no point of having 2-3 categories of skinny kevlars. Either stay with default 100ARM, or possibly create some powerful shield to protect VIP's, stock drivers/guards. That's what I think

If using normal armor is unfair then it should be removed and made accessible to anyone to buy if they choose to have it.

armor above 100 isnt even scriptable, all you can do is reset it to 100 using a timer, i think
and avenger, 100 kevlar doesnt always protects you from stubby anyway, since it can do even more than 200 damage...ppl would still buy 'skinny' armours for low prices, due to fact its always some bonus hit points before losing your 'real' health.

i dont see much problem with buyable armours. hell, gang HQ free kevlars can stay, because they only appear if you buy expensive guns. I think there should be even option to stock on kevlars directly without having to buy any guns.

I'm referring to armor that is given out. Like I said, I have no issue with purchased armor, although it should never go above 100% regardless, even if it were scriptable. That's just asking for people to deathmatch or abuse :P

in 2.0, people don't heal each second anymore...there's no food system that we had in 1.9 thus ppl dont spam /c takefood vodka anymore, and also the drugs regenerate HP slowly...people will care about losing HP more, they won't crash bikes into walls for the lols, or get into bare-fist fights with ppl for the lolz...every hit point is essential for not dying, thus I still think people will buy the shitty armours, as long as they are cheap (the shittiest armour should cost like 100$ IMO)

Some cheap wooden covers don't make much sense to me, regular players can take care so it still doesn't matter if they have 25 or 0 armour... I'd split it into 2 versions; 50ARM stock kevlars (available to civilians) and much more expensive 100ARM military-made ones, accessible to police special forces (ex. SWAT) but also for chosen criminals by using black market.

I have to agree here. It shouldn't be handed out for no apparent reason. This is a RP server, not a DM one, so you have no need for everyone using armor if you are roleplaying. If you want it that bad, roleplay to earn money and buy it yourself. ;)

It was scripted in the Long Night mod
Long Night uses default game scripting language (.scm), you can edit how the game behaves through scm as well, it's possible to change the armour and health over 100 by default scripting, but not VCMP one. Remember VC Legends? I set some guy's HP to 999999 and it was still 100 max.

if you don't have enough cash you can buy a shittier armour and be a wimp with shittier armour, is it that bad?
and yes it should be handed out for no appareant reason, the reason is: protection. civilians don't just buy guns to shoot cops, you know..armors save lifes.

If everyone has it then it's exactly the same as things before when people didn't. This is not a deathmatch server, so people shouldn't be shooting at each other pointlessly anyway. If the police are doing their job correctly, citizens should not have to fear being shot either.
