The bribe script is likely going to be removed in 2.0, and for a variety of reasons. The two most prominent reasons are that they're easily abusable and that it hinders roleplay. Today, I tempbanned a couple of people for 24 hours for using a minimum bribe for a cheap uncrime, which I would count as abuse.
What constitutes abuse? Telling a "friend" to go on-duty, give them a minimum bribe, and have them accept it. Why punish for this, you might ask? Because it's practically the same as going to jail and telling your friend to jail you so you can split the money. It's a cheap way of getting uncrimed. In 2.0, a bribe should be between a VCPD Senior Officer+ (who can uncrime) and a criminal and should be RPed out, not using BS methods.
Why isn't the script being removed for the time being? Well, the source code to 1.93 is currently lost on another drive, which would explain why /c rules and /c bribe haven't been updated. Also, with 2.0 coming out in a few days, it's low-priority given the issues we have to work out with 2.0 anyways.
Like I said, it's going to be removed in 2.0, but if it continues, I will personally ban you not only in 1.9, but in 2.0 as well. This isn't set in stone, but if you're punished by myself or any other admins for it, you know now. Remember that common sense is a rule too.
Feel free to leave any questions, concerns, and comments.

Here's the thing. You didn't even investigate or ask questions, you just banned not knowing what happened or why it was done. I took bribe from Marcell cuz he didn't get uncrimed when he died cuz of a kevlar bug. So Marcell told me to go cop to uncrime him cuz of the bug.
So many irony of you talking about the abuse...
-
Save it Perry, this ain't the time nor the place..

I was online, you know I have the ability to uncrime in those cases, so why didn't you ask?

'a bribe should be between a VCPD Senior Officer+ (who can uncrime) and a criminal and should be RPed out, not using BS methods.'
would never happen, no VCPD official would risk his position by accepting a bribe, since they'd get demoted in 2 seconds. One of reasons why I think that Argo shouldn't have official police group, is cause it limits roleplay by things like 'no outside-of-arpd help in chasing crims' (ex of something that would be not roleplayable: bounty hunters (i mean bounty hunters, not hitmen)) but that's another story
and i don't see it as abuse unless it's 100% planned, it would also happen IRL, no?
but yes, IMO, its bs that freecops can literally uncrime someone.
in the end, i think we should have /c bribe in 2.0, but only usable by VCPD officers+ (not cadets). VCPD officers would be hard enough to bribe (they're risking their position). Altho that creates another BS, what if an admin belonging to VCPD is checking the logs while bored, and he notices VCPD offical taking a bribe? since we dont have OOC/IC system, he could just report it as well.
so er... i dunno.
about uncriming, I felt like trying to bribe 5 cops at once (started out from perry) THEN saying i'd get uncrimed anyway, would include bigger cool factor.
-
And why can't freecops accept bribe??? ARPD officers are not allowed to take bribes...
Also, by adding this rule you are making it mandatory for freecops to join ARPD. People like to become freecop because they want to take bribes and RP bad cops...
Also, how irony... If I know a cop in RL and I am in grave situation, and if i can bribe and get out of the grave situation I will bribe him...
So in this RL case that cop is "my friend" ... Quite obvious... Also, marcell in this case is giving out cash... Its not in any way money cheating... Money cheating happens when you abuse scripts to throw free money. In this case money is transferred between two people...
-
Sorry but some people just are corrupt. IRL, your mate can also be in police forces. You dont always need to take the hard path, paying a shitloads of money to stranger in order to get uncrimed, but just a friendly visit to local PD and oooops... evidence isnt there anymore. This happens IRL all the time.
There are far more serious problems to deal with so I'm wondering why you picked that one up?
Let me pose a few examples:
/c stealth, /c buywep las 500 *crouches behind a car and has funz shooting peeps whose skin reminds target's skin. You were AFK or chatting? LOLOLOLOLOL go make report on ARPD forum, butthurt!
Cops allowed to ram people and others (including ARPD) can immediately m4 his head off/stub his ass. One of the most retarded things I've seen yet the LOL thing is that I've even seen several ARPD officers doing that.
"Abuse" is a word that is being used too much for no reason.
-
I realize my definition of abuse is vague/off-base. Here's what I'm defining as abuse:
/msg 0 Go on cop duty
/kill
Spawn as cop
/c bribe 0 1000
/c accept
It's do-able. But this is just a cheap uncrime. Sure, there's no money being made or lost, but this is abrupt, cheap, and can ruin an RP in progress.
If you're actually going to make a backroom deal with an officer, that's fine.
-
and can ruin an RP in progress.
so a criminal roleplaying with cops would break RP by bribing someone?
it would be rather no RP (since thats why he'd choose bribe)...or else, how would bribing break an RP? it's more like 'cops gettin pissed coz some sucka accepted bribe yet they tried hard to take down the suspect'
-
Who exactly 'abused the bribe script' here?
-
@Marcell:
I don't see what is the problem with allowing misbehavior to a certain extent. A violent and corrupt town demands violent and corrupt cops. With control, of course. Perhaps it may be more profitable to get some green hands down than filling Prawn Island with more and more bulletholes. :D ARPD needs to get some funding every now and then for parties and ... retirement.

now that's amusing

Marcell and I.

Says the guy who convinced Marco to suspend me for 2 weeks from the FBI.... just because i was being a corrupted cop doing drugs onduty.....

FBI was always regular police. Hell yeah. And didn't you sell out to the criminal side? Was a well deserved suspension then.

Sell out? Nope. As far as I remember I started my criminal activities way before going to the ARPD.

Why didn't you contact an admin that was online if you got bugged?
-
It doesn't matter how you take off your wanted status if you get hs bug, just that you do get it off. Bribing in this case sounds to be fastest way and that's what they did. Problem?
-

Seeing as this, as all the VC:MP topics nowadays is a shitstorm, I just have one thing to say:
If you want to disable the bribe script then disable the entire cop script right away. Being corrupt in a game is as valid as it is in real life. You shouldn't take such things as bug abuse straight away. It does not matter if two people share the same tag. They don't share the same genitals or head do they?
What exactly are you aiming for when you impose rules out of anger? Are you trying to make this an '80s version of our SA:MP counterpart? Ban me from posting if you find it offensive but I think it does incline towards that.
It already puts me to sleep seeing how this server is being dragged from what it used to be, a fun place for everyone. Even if no one did give a shit about rules like you told me yourself, all we could get out of that was a group laugh, not a group PMS.
Opening your eyes to "all of Argonath" obviously did give you the chance to "see" how much VC:MP is cared about and I'm sure you're already becoming one of those hypocrites too, with the only difference being you carrying the VC:MP Scripter tag to not show how much you consider this server "shit".
"I've seen better RP on SA:MP and the owners know this server's shit"
Well guess what, I've seen more endurance, commitment and loyalty from a 10 year old than I did from you when I saw what you really think of the server you originally accepted to script for with extreme loyalty.
I'm sick of reading these topics and posting in this board so see you in a year.

Why didn't you contact an admin that was online if you got bugged?
It's the same way. No abuse at all. Would be abuse if he wasn't killed then I took his bribe. He was killed, but the heat remained cuz when you get headshot while having kevlar, it says you died. And when you die without script recognizing the suspect, then the heat remains. Even though I got money, it isn't the script money, it's the money from my clan mate. It would be same like Marcell just gave me 1000$. Is that abuse? Are now not allowed to send each other money? Besides, Storm didn't even know what was going on, he only speculated that we abused scripts or shit. He saw the message that Marcell suddenly got uncrimed misteriously that every player gets on his screen. I was cop at the time. He instantly thought it was me. "YES HE COP AND HE EAF HE MUST HAV ABOOS".
Let me tell you something, I'm sick of being treated as a f**king terrorist and a rule breaker only because I'm in EAF. Also I know why Stormeus did this. Also, Stormeus... How about the times when you teleported whole server to shack so they can all smuggle including you, so the money amount would be bigger? Don't be so hypocritical calling me an abuser.
It doesn't matter which way is used to get uncrimed as long as you don't have any gain of it. Kthxbye
-
And I'm tired of being treated like a terrorist for trying to enforce the rules. The whole thing wasn't done out of assumption, but out of checking the logs from the time, various administrative and rule threads, and looking into similar situations. The tempban hadn't been done until a little more than five minutes later because of this.
There are various reasons why I've become more script toward the server and its players. One is the fact that I'm going through high school and have to deal with outside pressure. Another is that in the course of six months, the server has nearly been shut down twice because of server relations, and did not want that to happen again. Lastly, I assumed that my decisions would not cause as much of a problem as they have, as I've considered myself being relatively lenient (only warning for shooting someone through an interior and only tempbanning for this instance of script abuse, as it had been too late to warn).
The problem with /c bribe player 1000 just to get uncrimed is that it creates extreme confusion, and doing it to "increase the cool factor" exacerbates the issue. As an admin online at the time, I was left completely out of the loop. I did indeed ask what had happened and why. No one had told me it was to clear out a headshot bug until afterwards, thus I took the action that I did, and subsequently lifted the tempban early. However, it would've been wiser to have contacted me as it wouldn't have created as big an issue as it did.
As it's become clear that I am not wanted on the server anymore, I have stopped all my work on the 2.0 scripts and am planning to leave the server. I leave my earned cash with Morphine and Marcell, who've helped me in my beginner days, and we've had some fun times in IT and some of the time afterward. My apologies to anyone I might've upset, angered, humiliated, or negatively impacted in any other way.
That being said, I ask that my VC:MP Scripter rank be removed, as I no longer enjoy playing on and working with the server as I did before. This is probably for the better in hopes that the server will be able to balance itself out, and will also allow me to work on the much anticipated Liberty Unleashed server full-time. I have already removed my level 5 rank from the server. This likely won't be a permanent thing, but I need time away from the server to sort out my own issues. I anticipate that aXXo and Klaus will be able to complete 2.0 as scheduled, but this is unlikely with aXXo being away at college (I believe).
And lastly, I leave the Citizenship and Migration Board under Morphine's direction, as a trusted friend and colleague, and hope he will make the right choices in leading the organization. I will still be active in the VC:MP community, but not VC:MP Argonath, which I will always remember as my home server. With that final statement, I ask that this thread be locked.
Goodbye.
