The bribe script is likely going to be removed in 2.0, and for a variety of reasons. The two most prominent reasons are that they're easily abusable and that it hinders roleplay. Today, I tempbanned a couple of people for 24 hours for using a minimum bribe for a cheap uncrime, which I would count as abuse.

What constitutes abuse? Telling a "friend" to go on-duty, give them a minimum bribe, and have them accept it. Why punish for this, you might ask? Because it's practically the same as going to jail and telling your friend to jail you so you can split the money. It's a cheap way of getting uncrimed. In 2.0, a bribe should be between a VCPD Senior Officer+ (who can uncrime) and a criminal and should be RPed out, not using BS methods.

Why isn't the script being removed for the time being? Well, the source code to 1.93 is currently lost on another drive, which would explain why /c rules and /c bribe haven't been updated. Also, with 2.0 coming out in a few days, it's low-priority given the issues we have to work out with 2.0 anyways.

Like I said, it's going to be removed in 2.0, but if it continues, I will personally ban you not only in 1.9, but in 2.0 as well. This isn't set in stone, but if you're punished by myself or any other admins for it, you know now. Remember that common sense is a rule too.

Feel free to leave any questions, concerns, and comments.

Here's the thing. You didn't even investigate or ask questions, you just banned not knowing what happened or why it was done. I took bribe from Marcell cuz he didn't get uncrimed when he died cuz of a kevlar bug. So Marcell told me to go cop to uncrime him cuz of the bug.

So many irony of you talking about the abuse...

I was online, you know I have the ability to uncrime in those cases, so why didn't you ask?

'a bribe should be between a VCPD Senior Officer+ (who can uncrime) and a criminal and should be RPed out, not using BS methods.'
would never happen, no VCPD official would risk his position by accepting a bribe, since they'd get demoted in 2 seconds. One of reasons why I think that Argo shouldn't have official police group, is cause it limits roleplay by things like 'no outside-of-arpd help in chasing crims' (ex of something that would be not roleplayable: bounty hunters (i mean bounty hunters, not hitmen)) but that's another story

and i don't see it as abuse unless it's 100% planned, it would also happen IRL, no?
but yes, IMO, its bs that freecops can literally uncrime someone.

in the end, i think we should have /c bribe in 2.0, but only usable by VCPD officers+ (not cadets). VCPD officers would be hard enough to bribe (they're risking their position). Altho that creates another BS, what if an admin belonging to VCPD is checking the logs while bored, and he notices VCPD offical taking a bribe? since we dont have OOC/IC system, he could just report it as well.

so er... i dunno.
about uncriming, I felt like trying to bribe 5 cops at once (started out from perry) THEN saying i'd get uncrimed anyway, would include bigger cool factor.

And why can't freecops accept bribe??? ARPD officers are not allowed to take bribes...

Also, by adding this rule you are making it mandatory for freecops to join ARPD. People like to become freecop because they want to take bribes and RP bad cops...

Also, how irony... If I know a cop in RL and I am in grave situation, and if i can bribe and get out of the grave situation I will bribe him...

So in this RL case that cop is "my friend" ... Quite obvious... Also, marcell in this case is giving out cash... Its not in any way money cheating... Money cheating happens when you abuse scripts to throw free money. In this case money is transferred between two people...

Where there is Will, there is a Way.
Where there is Willy, I dont Know.....

Sorry but some people just are corrupt. IRL, your mate can also be in police forces. You dont always need to take the hard path, paying a shitloads of money to stranger in order to get uncrimed, but just a friendly visit to local PD and oooops... evidence isnt there anymore. This happens IRL all the time.

There are far more serious problems to deal with so I'm wondering why you picked that one up?
Let me pose a few examples:

/c stealth, /c buywep las 500  *crouches behind a car and has funz shooting peeps whose skin reminds target's skin. You were AFK or chatting? LOLOLOLOLOL go make report on ARPD forum, butthurt!

Cops allowed to ram people and others (including ARPD) can immediately m4 his head off/stub his ass. One of the most retarded things I've seen yet the LOL thing is that I've even seen several ARPD officers doing that.

"Abuse" is a word that is being used too much for no reason.

I realize my definition of abuse is vague/off-base. Here's what I'm defining as abuse:

/msg 0 Go on cop duty
/kill
Spawn as cop
/c bribe 0 1000
/c accept

It's do-able. But this is just a cheap uncrime. Sure, there's no money being made or lost, but this is abrupt, cheap, and can ruin an RP in progress.

If you're actually going to make a backroom deal with an officer, that's fine.

so a criminal roleplaying with cops would break RP by bribing someone?
it would be rather no RP (since thats why he'd choose bribe)...or else, how would bribing break an RP? it's more like 'cops gettin pissed coz some sucka accepted bribe yet they tried hard to take down the suspect'

@Marcell:

I don't see what is the problem with allowing misbehavior to a certain extent. A violent and corrupt town demands violent and corrupt cops. With control, of course. Perhaps it may be more profitable to get some green hands down than filling Prawn Island with more and more bulletholes. :D ARPD needs to get some funding every now and then for parties and ... retirement.

FBI was always regular police. Hell yeah. And didn't you sell out to the criminal side? Was a well deserved suspension then.
