Well, Apple owns the iOS, so ofc it couldn't had been based on that.  :poke:

It beats iPhone in each and every perspective other than being Android. The looks, the elegance, the camera, the power, the graphics! You name it, it has it all! I believe this will be the next X10 for sony, just like X10 was first in class and setup huge standards for Android phones, I'm sure this one will revolutionize Android industry again.

To be honest though Apple just take other peoples idea's and make them better, they never really invent anything.

Nothing extremely revolutionary. All that hardware won't even be used, I like the fact that it's waterproof though.
And to be fair, any smartphone produced in 2010 or later is better than iPhone.

Remember the smartphones, if we could call that smartphohes, before the first iPhone how shitty their was ? We are lucky that Apple came. And if you look how much progress they made (all constructors, not only Apple) during the last years in doing smartphones, it's awesome.

I think they forgot to mention linking the phone with the TV is more complicated if you don't have a sony TV..

I don't know about newer phones, but Sony Ericsson phones released in 2011 got really crappy Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. Laggy, lots of bugs and some other stuff. Recently SE released a new update, where the only thing that changed was the release number. Nothing else has been noticed.

Files were checked by Android custom ROM developers at xda-developers forum.

Hope that is not the case on newer, Sony, phones.

FULL HD 1080p Display with Bravia Engine V2 and Adreno 305 GPU!! and you say that's not revolutionary?

Inb4 market spams with Full HD handsets now.

Atleast the phone will survive being run over the bus.  ;) That's DLNA technology he used at the bar btw.

iPhone camera sensors are manufactured by Sony ;)

and @ Janar : Is your phone rooted? I recently rooted my phone, and I never noticed any lag before rooting it, now after its rooted I'm using flykernel and OC to 1.6Ghz, running smoother than JB. ;) Mine is a 2011 Xperia Ray btw. I never had any problems, also yes, newer ones are lag free.

I don't use stock ICS, it is just so crap. I use custom ROMs, based on ICS, but that are fully customized. Or sometimes when I get problems, I temporarily use Gingerbread. Still, nothing beats GB performance.

And overclocking your ray to 1.6 Ghz is not so good idea. Might burn it quite easy.

I'd never buy a phone that doesn't work right out of the box. All this modification should be completely unnecessary.

I like Stock ICS + ac!d audio engine and the status bar mods,  My ICS beats GB I'd say, and as I thought, yours is rooted, did you root it before upgrading to ICS or after?

And I use flykernel, try it out, Ray has a snapdragon armv7 processor, easily overclockable upto 2Ghz. with doomlord's kernel. I use it at 806Mhz. - 1.605 Mhz. at all times on flykernel, with no frills cpu.

I'd never buy a phone that doesn't work right out of the box. All this modification should be completely unnecessary.
Someone with an iPhone wouldn't understand Android customizations , imagine if you could over clock your iPhone or run another software on it, make it do things no other phone can.  :devroll:

My phone worked right out the box btw, it was the best at the time, all those modifications are not needed, but used by users just for customization.

Exactly the way we mod our GTA, we do not need it, but some of us like different things.  :)

I use flykernel + MIUI Jelly Bean ROM atm, the one I liked the most was flykernel + ICS Ultimate HD 2.0 with modded themes and Ac!d engine.

For those saying there's no gameplay footage, the phone released a couple of hours ago in CES2013, wait for it, till then, the last one is a link to the youtube playlist, by which you can know about ALL the features of the phone.

I'm actually happy with Sony, mine is the 10th Sony phone in our family, none of them EVER gave any problems, when Samsung ones didn't last even 6 months.

And I was among the first ones to get ICS when it came out, other manufacturers like Samsung and HTC never even provided the ICS upgrade to their users.  :devroll:

The fact it's water proof or can handle water being poured on it is so badass..
And it's one of the best looking phones so far.
Altough i've been very satisfied with S3, i could switch it to this.. Who knows

Sony is kinda late with their flagship because next Qualcomm is just around the corner..

The Nokia 9500 Communicator was a pretty good smartphone. And you could smash in a window with it, something impossible with an iPhone...

Now unless Apple makes an iPhone with:
- 4G connection
- dual SIM cards for international calling/data and voice separation
- WiFi on full speed
- possibility to use it as modem
- HD screen
- external connection to keyboard and screen
- storage capacity of 200Gb with options to expand

They are not making any innovative phone.

For the future they would need:
- Built-in HD projector
- roll-up 12" screen
- projected keyboard
- DVB-S receiver

iPhone is only owning themselves. How? Look at their price. They are selling, no need to go forth and back on that, but any device made my that brand is overpriced.
And Gandalf, 200GB? Really? Why not implement a 1TB SSD while they are at it?

I specifically said it beats iPhone, not SIII(although it does in everything) . Simply because of its style and looks, the elegance, the soberness. Sony is like a fashion designer for phones.

My top 5 picks for cell phones till date would be :

1. Sony Xperia Z
2. Sony Xperia Ion
3. Sony Xperia Ray
4. Sony Xperia Arc S
5. Moto Razr V3

I really prefer looks over most other things, there were dual core phones entering the market at the time I bought my Ray, paid 3k extra(INR, $70 US) just to import the sparkling red color from New York, as it wasn't available in India. and I been proud ever since, my phone has got wet, sometimes fell real hard, even on its screen, but not a single scratch on it till date, and I can run any program out there, it works like my portable pc, although I have a laptop, and it amazes everyone who sees it. I totally love flaunting it.

Every phone does it ^ I can use mine as a modem, or wi-fi hotspot, or internet via bluetooth.
My phone has most things Gandalf mentioned in first para.

and haha Gandalf, you really think of the future :p
I liked the 12 inch HD roll up screen idea.

Btw did you watch the CES 2013? :)

Haha, Naah, I just like to fiddle around with technology ;) I also got a Samsung Series 5 laptop I brag about as its one of the best gaming laptops. :p

But yeah, I love Sony, after all, My first phone was a SE Naite green heart( got it at the time it released, still works ! Never had to visit service center! Its the reason I didn't had to think twice before importing my current Xperia for $550 from the US without any warranty or bill.) and I browsed internet for the first time using my mom's SE too, which I got her as a mothers day gift in 2003 I think, I was only 8 back then. :p

My both Sony phones so far, Naite and Ray have been love at first sight for me.  :devroll:

If I remember right, I wouldn't recommend Miro, as it has 800Mhz. processor, although its a good phone, my friend has it. I'd say go with Xperia E, its cheaper and comes with 1Ghz. processor :)

Nope, I picked moto too, I picked them on their looks, difference in design, I don't hate Apple, I do dislike Nokias tho. HTC makes some amazing phones as well, but both Samsung and HTC use the same designs which gets boring, unfortunately, Sony did the same for 2012 Xperia line up, that's why I didn't pick any of those phones.

Seems as if you haven't checked any Xperia videos, Xperia phones are made to last long with premium materials, a lot of Aluminimum has been used in mine. I doubt not only chinese, but if any other manufacturers use the top notch materials.

If the Sony Xperia Z didn't have the Sony logo I'd think it's a cheap chinese smartphone. I haven't seen it in real life though, only pictures.

Show me one smartphone that doesn't look or feel cheap, though. There just aren't any real 'quality' phones, not even for multiple grands, where there are real quality TVs and amplifiers, for example.

By quality I mean its longevity and the components used (such as the integrated circuits). Those ICs are going to drop dead, millions at once, in about 10 years, if not sooner. It's all built to last until they've made something new, and there is no real longtime compatibility, because the 'smartphone' isn't built smart enough to upgrade like that. The reason is so obvious, they just want you to buy a new one every few years. They're not going to built any high-end stuff that you can use so that you won't have to buy anything from them in the decade to come... To think I still have amplifiers lying around from 1973 that work perfectly...

As long as I can call people on it, and won't lose reception everywhere ( ), I'm fine with just about any cellphone that fits in my pocket.

*cough* If you think that, you really need to try out an Xperia phone, I believe Sony is the only manufacturer to use premium materials to build their every gadget.

I don't have any 'xperience' with that phone, but I do have experiences with Sony videorecorders, amplifiers, tapedecks (R2R), cassettedecks, cd-players, speakers, and tuners. One of the most uninnovating brands out there on all of these areas. They do have a lot of nice stuff, though, very well designed too, back in the 70s. But after the 80s and 90s the company lost its charm. Sony tends to pick up on a lot of 'hot stuff' and enter the game by just producing something that's already there but slightly different. Examples are the compact disc, game consoles, and apparently also smartphones recently (post-2000 :P ). This really just reminds me of Samsung with a bit more of this and that. Oh and, waterproof? Didn't Nokia already do that in the late 90s?

I believe Sony is the only manufacturer to use premium materials to build their every gadget.

Sorry, but then you obviously have no real experience with the brand. :D

Their CD and DVD/BluRay players are known for cheap and plastic mechanisms. The lasers in the mechanisms also fail a lot. I've had to clean loads of them through the years. Sometimes they're even unrepairable; laserrot. I'm not awfully experienced on the subject of smartphones, so I can't really say that Sony is also shitty in smartphones, but I'd really love to find out that there are actually wellmade smartphones, that last for longer than ten years, and were actually built with more than a bit of factory work in Taiwan/China, using the very cheapest of electronic components out there.

Well, I do agree 'some' of their cameras suck, including DSLRs

So far, I have only used these gadgets by Sony :
TVs - Bravia is the best, no arguments about that.
Laptops - Again, VAIO is a well recognizable brand
Phones - Never had to visit service center even once! and they have taken the fall no other phones can, also they feel great in hand, unlike cheap plastic material used in Samsung phones.
Cameras : Well cyber shots are awesome!!
Blu - Ray player : I got the one without 3D , from the time when Sony just launched them back in 2011, and so far its the only thing by Sony which I have been totally disappointed with.

So I can't really tell about other things which you mentioned. :p

Orly? Must be a very new joke  :trust:
Either he is trolling or still stuck in the 90s :p

Although I dislike the fact, but Samsung is the number one in market when it comes to sales of cell phones.
