Either from the day you registered or with the karma system. I'd prefer the karma system that's quite cool.

Karma system would indeed give honest feedback regarding the user and the post count should be disabled in order to reduce trolling and worthless posts imo. There should be quality over quantity and would be nice if others see how much of your posts have really made difference and got good feedback from the community.

EDIT: I forgot to say that to change the system according to what the first post suggests is totally wrong, because rank has to/should show your contribution to forum. Trolling is not contribution.

Forums without post counts are confusing for new users.
They offer a quick way to tell quite few things about the person whose post you're reading.

Well the problem with using the Karma system is people here would abuse the hell out of it when users get into arguments, and admins can't override it to reverse the karma points.

Modify Profile--->Forum Profile
I agree that they can't just reverse the ones given out, but they can just remove a few if they are aware of what happened. Tested it on another forum  :roll:

Why change it? Your post count is just a meaningless number which dosen't contribute to anything.

He isn't implying it is either. He is talking about the ranks.
