/City chat Vs /public chat

Why was city chat made the default one whilst everyone wants to talk in /p.
Players chat in /city chat and then get given their response in public.
Or they talk in /city chat and people in other city do not hear it.

I don't see the point of city chat.

The most visible reason would be to reduce spam on public chat.

But seeing as we now (unfortunately) have ways for people to isolate themselves from public chat, I agree with you.

If you don't want to see it and don't want to help other players, the option is available to turn off the public chat.
