Actually, it's possible to take down an incoming plane with a slingshot, just make sure the bullet and the plane are in opposite directions, and that the bullet hits the plane square. The plane's speed is so awesome that makes a slingshot a highly destructive weapon.

It died, along with the pilot. The pilot died due to the colision. With the plane damaged + there was no pilot anymore, the passengers died too.
