GT240M: Frequent crashes.

I may be getting a new laptop at any moment which contains an i7, 4GB RAM and as in the title; An Nvidia GT240m: The reason I get it. Why?

The GPU has been reported and investigated to be frequently crashing during various games(GTA:VC being the most common cause to crash it, somehow). What was found in the MMC was that nvlddmkm.sys seems to be the cause; or so it was believed. Other thoughts was that overheating could've caused the issue, as well as an issue in voltage(either the power supply or the circuit of the board itself)

Having installed various drivers, from new to old, I stand with several other solutions which I cannot execute just yet; I would have to wait for the laptop to be in my posession.

Now, my question is if anyone had this issue before, and if yes; what would be the solution to it?

i have no idea but consider acquiring a different model because a 240m sounds like an awful video card with the performance on the level of a 2006 GPU

It really is 2006 GPU I think.. 2014 is 800 series. :p

I have a 650 too, works great still, but I only bought it last year when I noticed how bad my graphics on WoT were.
Still though I can't see it being the graphics card since GTA SA is from how long ago? Have you checked all the compatibility settings? Check both the gta_sa.exe and SA:MP box to run as an admin? All I could think of..

if you read the gpu has issues on the internet i wouldn't worry too much, its probably not so common.

If it's Hyper-V compatible then I'm sold of course, screw virtualbox.

Though VMware is also nice, and I heard they were also working on their own visor. but Hyper-V works well with other servers who run it, who doesn't want a beowulf

I can imagine memory issues, Turn on Nvidia panel, under 3D Settings, set everything on low by panel side settings and general setting on performance but not quality

Can't be it i suppose for memtest gave 100%, but you can always try.

Still, if graphics card have no dedicated memory it can happen by shared one being operated wrong
