I'm guessing people were abusing smaller text in order to conceal offensive messages.

You know what happens when people abuse features.

In the worst case it's understandable, the fact  that people were misusing the feature was very seen.
But seriously, if a 5pt text was still visible why the limit is setted to 8pt? It would be better if it's made to 4pt because that text size is barely visible. There still people here that uses the size function for his real purpose so please, consider a slight change.

I'd have to agree. Perhaps allowing 5-6pt and above would be a fair compromise.
