Multiple problems with GTA IV

Okay so I installed my legit copy of GTA IV which I bought in 2009, entered the cd key, it verfied and all good.

When I launched GTA IV it said GTA IV has stopped working. When I created a commandline.txt and downloaded a xlive.dll file, that problem was solved, GTA IV launched.

New problems - I can't change the graphic settings, they change for some miliseconds and go back to original.

Also, on starting the game, it gets stuck at the characters loading screen endlessly.

Help pls.

Intel is made mostly for programing computers this may cause the problem as in my other laptop my intel graphic card i am unable to see the HP of the other people in SAMP.

Try this: right click on GTA4, select properties, then select launch options

copy and paste this into the field that comes up

-nomemrestrict -norestrictions

exactly like that, I was have the same problem but it worked , Now i can change the graphic setting with out any problem.

Intel HD 4000 and 3000 are pretty standard on commonplace laptops, next to the Nvidia M brand and generic AMD Radeon M brand.

I had the same problem as OP with my old Toshiba Satellite laptop, with my settings automatically resetting back to a default option set, with the render distance set permanently to the longest range and everything on medium-high even though I had a quarter of a gigabyte of video memory and on the settings it was going over by about a gigabyte.

So I accidentally deleted the launchgtaiv.exe file from the folder while finding a no dvd exe. Now I cant go through the re installing process again and installing the 7 patch didn't fix it either so if anyone could be awesome enough to upload their launchgtaiv.exe file for me, it would be awesome.
