It's not an Islamic State Flag that has been put up in the window that has gone around the world, it's a different message as translated it is "There is no God but Allah" and "Mohammed is the messenger of God". This is a statement of faith that is taken by Muslims. It's not an Islamic State flag.

Furthermore, his name has been confirmed as Man Haron Monis, who is an Iranian cleric who was held on criminal charges prior to the siege. Being held on apparently up to 40 (update: 26) charges of sexual assault and such.

Another 2 hostages have been released for a total of 5. Police have ordered media to not publish the demands of the Gunman.

It is currently 1:14AM in Sydney, the siege is expected to carry well on into tomorrow.

According to Netword ten's reported Matt Doran. He claimed he was in contact with two of the hostages just like Ben Fordham on Sydney's 2GB radio station. I can't say if it's trusthworthy or not. The press in Sweden took that source for granted. Even SVT, the government funded media. But recently added that it has not been confirmed by the aus police.

I apologize if my conclusion was too drastic. Let's just hope everybody gets out safe.

I don't like channel Ten, Nine or Seven's coverage since they tend to "jump" to conclusions. That's why I prefer ABC, anyhow. 2GB is just a conservative radio station that has no morales. So anyhow, no problems.

NSW Police Tactical Team just went in, guns blazing. A LOT of gun fire, bomb squad & paramedics is moving in. Will update.

2 Injuries so far (apparently, can not confirmed but 2 people were on stretchers).. there may be more, 4 stretchers were brought in. Unknown if hostage taker has been taken into custody/killed or what not.
