Many are already speculating the 'next big thing' to be unveiled by Rockstar in the coming years. Following on from the popular GTA V instalment some feel that it's time for a return to good old Vice City.

What do you think?

GTA 6’ Release Date, News, And Updates: Sixth Installment Will Return To A Retro Vice City? Rumors And Speculations Vs. Official Details Clarified

While "GTA 5" news continues in an all time high after its release date, speculations and rumors on "GTA 6" remain buzzing online, including the sequel's return to Vice City. Official details however remain scarce as developer Rockstar has only but a few information released online. Early in October Rockstar president Leslie Benzies shared with Develop prior to completing "GTA 5". Talking about "GTA 6", Benzies shares "We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what 'GTA VI' will be, but we've got some ideas." Indeed, a vague development status for "GTA 6", however, after months more news have surfaced online, hopefully leading to a specific (and official) release date announcement for "GTA 6".

Apart from the many information revealed online on "GTA 6" development is the speculated release date. Based on the fact that Rocksteady has yet to confirm the actual development of "GTA 6", release date information found online are largely based on rumors. Analysis-based speculation of the release date sets "GTA 6" possibly as far back as 2018, according to a dedicated "GTA 6" site, GTA5GrandTheftAuto.com. However, some reports reveal a 2017 release date for "GTA 6". "GTA 6" setting and location are among the many topics of rumors found online. Initially, reports pointed towards having "GTA 6" set in London, now recent news reveal that "GTA 6" will return to Vice City. Vice City was the setting for the 2002-released GTA, following "GTA 3".

According to MoviePilot, this is a confirmed news for the upcoming "GTA 6". In the same report, the return to Vice City also includes a retro-setting, specifically during the 1980s, where the next GTA adventure will continue. "While many speculated that GTA would return to London after so many years, it seems that's still not the plan the company has for the series. But we got the next best thing. The game will return to the setting of 1980's Vice City, Florida, but with an intriguing addition." Apart from the mentioned information available on "GTA 6", no other detail has been revealed yet, officially. It is not until Rockstar actually confirms the ongoing development of "GTA 6" that we'll hear solid news like release date, location and setting for the highly anticipated sixth installment.

Completely rumor. Rockstar Games already answered a user recently on their newswire that they had no intention of making any more GTA's until they are finished with GTA V's other releases and DLC's. There is currently another false rumor floating around saying that "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2" is also coming soon, which does not exist, and takes fake visual references from the GTA III universe, which Rockstar Games said years ago they would not be returning to.

As much as I would love to see a return to VC, Rockstar Games has yet to announce or hint at such a thing.

Just a rumour, however it is highly common, unless they come up with Las Venturas or San Fiero

This is when you know something is false or just pure speculation from a unconfirmed source who talk from their ass, they can't even get the name of the game developer right.  Rocksteady developed the highly acclaimed Batman game series franchise for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

REPLICA.

I am hoping the physics will be even more real! Good multiplayer where we could have a big rpg style with admin JOB for people who can do it from homes.
Vice City sounds like fun! They will have to rebuild it a bit larger, no?
I am sure in one thing, their imagination is awesome, better than awful "reality", so it will rock.

Rumours.. I was expecting GTA V to be Vice City too, because I had my own little theory that they're gonna remake III's era cities in order, for example:
GTA 3 was LC, GTA VC was VC and SA was SA
So I thought they'll make:
GTA IV Liberty City, GTA V Vice City and GTA VI San Andreas

Whether they revisit VC or not, it won't be as good because it won't be the iconic Miami of the 80s.

No. Not only was that a false rumor made up by several different people, but the fake images included were rendered in the III-era universe and not the IV-era one.

Whether they revisit VC or not, it won't be as good because it won't be the iconic Miami of the 80s.
I'm thinking that is why they are probably hesitating to revisit it, given that all of the IV-era games have taken place in the present time during which they were released.

There's naturally another game that will come out, but this is way into the future. A few people say that 2018-2022 (based on the time gap between the other titles and the current development on GTA V) is a safe estimate. I personally don't think you can pin this down at all, especially as I doubt Rockstar has even made firm decisions themselves.
Plus, GTA Online and V are really different to it predecessors.

There's of course no mention of what/where the next story could hypothetically take place. The only clue is the interest Rockstar have shown towards a retro environment, which could bring Vice or something similar into the spotlight.
Definitely an interesting point of discussion.

Yeah I also wondered about this. At first I thought the writer was trying to make some joke about Rockstar's consistent and record breaking sales, but more like they were trying to (accidently?) compare Time Warner and Take-Two Interactive, both of which are large New York companies who own the two different games studios.

He wasn't talking about the GTA III universe. Anyway, I'd only buy GTA set in Vice if they would set the game to take place in the 80's like it should be.

GTA San Andreas 2 would be part of the GTA III universe, because it would be a sequel to an existing game from that universe.
