Argonath RPG Coast Guard

Introduction

The Argonath RPG CoastGuard was established in September 2009 by Admiral Monte Montague ([NP]Monte.Montague) and retired Vice Admiral [NP]Hiro_Alterlis in the State of San Andreas, Argonath RPG.

This document (thread) will set out to explain the mission statement of the Coast Guard. It will seek to explain what the Coast Guard is all about.

Mission statement

What is the Coast Guard? What do we stand for? And why do we do it?

The Coast Guard is elite task force of well-trained armed operatives of which have been commissioned as a law enforcement agency of the Argonath RPG and which has been widely considered as a vital emergency & rescue service.

Our operatives live by the belief that we must endeavour to ensure that whenever and if ever the life of a citizen of Argonath RPG or anyone visiting Argonath RPG, is at risk, then the risk shall be put to rest. Mainly focusing on coastal, marine, remote and strategically important areas we work to ensure Argonath security and well-being.

The benefits to the community, what about them?

Being an armed defence force we are skilled and capable to put our resources and lives on the line in case of a risk to safety of individuals or the national security or Argonath RPG. Citizens of Argonath RPG can be rest assured that if ever they are in need of a service to help them survive in a tragic situation at sea or where there is little hope of other services getting to them, we will be there.

The community is able to benefit from a well-trained force that can provide them with emergency medical and life saving support. Other benefits include knowledge that boating is a safe form of transport or leisure, as well as being rest assured that any trips to remote areas that despite considerate planning do not go as expected, they are within most times, minutes of attaining our attention.

Prevention is indeed better than cure, and as so the Coast Guard will constantly be providing citizens with advice, guidance and support to help prevent tragedies, emergencies and general ‘nasty surprises’.

Whilst doing all of this the Coast Guard should also be ready to offer support for other law enforcement agencies including but not limited to the FBI, the SAPD as well as emergency services such as ARFD and authorities such as ATC or ARA. Continued close co-operation both publicly and behind doors can ensure we can achieve this.

Examples of solutions to common problems faced by the community:

Life threatning emergencies & hostile entities at sea:

The Coast Guard is prepared to assist those who are threatened with life threatening emergencies at sea. Examples include where in which skippers or project managers fail to adequately prepare for a long journey out at sea, or if engines and resources are not regularly maintained causing vessels to become stranded at sea or unable to get back home. The Coast Guard can be called to help in such situations.
As well as being available to combat and put down scenarios in which hostile forces or criminals which can include pirates or terrorists who attempt to take hostage, steal from or disrupt the work of honest and hard working vessel owners and operators, or state entities.

Preparation for trips and general survival readiness:

The Coast Guard believes it is important to teach and share knowledge which can help prevent calamities which can arise from general encounters with ‘mother nature’ or the ‘wild’.

Examples include how to deal with medical emergencies which arise during camping trips or ventures into the wild, either to limit the need of emergency support, or to stabilise the situation until professional medical support can arrive. Medical emergencies can arise from anything from allergic reactions to plants, animals or animal or insect bites or near fatal encounters with wild beast or predators or simply not having enough clean drinking water for the trip.

Another common example includes scenarios in which trip goers are ill prepared to cope with wild life. Whilst we do not condone simply going outside and picking plants or herbs for sustenance or medical uses we can help to teach people what to avoid if they insist on doing it. In case it’s been raining away for hours on ends in your camp and you are unable to make a fire to keep yourself warm or you simply do not know how to make a safe fire, we can help.

Threats from hostile entities & our service as the National Guard:

It is all too well known that enemies of our nation are constantly keeping us on our heels. Despite the work of hard work displayed by our security services we can sometime be caught unexpected or will be required to show force to counter an attack.

The operatives of the Coast Guard and the establishment of the Coast Guard serves as a dual purpose service. Whilst being there primarily for search and rescues, law enforcement and help with medical emergencies we are also well trained to act as the National Guard of Argonath RPG.

Whilst deployed as the National Guard we will ensure:

- Efforts are made to bring an end to any and all public unrest.
- Emergency Law / Martial Law will be enforced well with knowledge that it is meant to help bring us back to normality and not just a guise to put down general public views and opinions.
- Medical, humanitarian aid will be dispensed if needed.
- Any and all immediate threats to national security will cease using any and all appropriate force which can include full scale military counter offensive, defensive combat.

The scenarios or instances in which the National Guard will serve can be justified by a direct request from either heads of state, officials and leaders of those working for the state or in line with the constitution and if it is seen that such a measure is needed, the appropriate figure with authority within the Coast Guard will be able to ensure its smooth deliverance.

The culture, and work environment within the Coast Guard:

The Coast Guard operates under strict autocratic and bureaucratic military disciplined environment. We have a strict code of conduct in which all operatives must abide by. Their objectives, tasks, day to day expectations of operatives are made clear and a strict chain of command and structure ensures things are done in time, accordingly and in line with the mission and ethos and mandate of the Coast Guard.

Recruitment

In order to join the Coast Guard, please register on our website (CG.ArgoRPG.com) and click on "Join the Coast Guard" to fill an application, which will be processed and you will be informed of its status regularly. Once accepted, you will be a Cadet, and therefore access our academical material. Our material has been revised frequently for many months in order to ensure that it's clear and straightforward. Once training is accordingly completed, you will be promoted to a full Operative, being able to explore better what this organisation offers.

Patrol Summary:
The patrol started from San Fierro Police Department, after an interested officer decided to attend. Duties were distributed; with cadet Forlenza and vice Admiral Valdes occupying the land, and cadet Pizza alongside Younes to form the air unit, to complete the quadruple alliance. Good partnership proved to be useful when the Coast Guard neutralized a couple of suspects evading the vigilance of law enforcement at Los Santos, to eventually be taken down at Las Venturas. The latter event occured following a sequence of events including a traffic stop at Verdant Bluffs. The pick of the day was a high speed pursuit that ended up in both offenders being taken down using lethal force, by the land unit, additional to the Coast Guard intervention to apprehend a suspect waterborne, once again to self-impose and show the organisation's worth in front of the SAPD and other bodies, also displayed by a barricaded suspect situation.


Conclusion:
The idea to organise a patrol was triggered by the fact that law enforcing presence was little to non-existent back at that time, and was also seen as an opportunity to see how cadets work together. Cadet GtrainFan attended the patrol at the end and showed ample glimpses of ability as well. I am really pleased of this progress and our members have something to be proud of.
